Here’s a recap of the fall deer hunts for uncle Stu-baby.

I had general tags for deer in Utah, Idaho, and Montana. My main focus this year was on a late season elk tag in November but it’s always fun to chase deer when the chances come.

Archery season here in Utah was fun. My brother and I got some real good chances on some decent bucks with our bows but just couldn’t seal the deal.

I spent two days in Idaho chasing deer. I had a close call with an awesome buck. Still no dice. Here’s a trail cam pic of him and his buddy.

Those rose-thorn cheaters and his mass would feel soooo good in your hands.

I ran into some local kids who think they have the sheds from the bigger buck from the prior year. Also a pic of him on the winter range with one antler dropped.

I hit the Idaho rifle hunt for two days but didn’t see jack squat. There was a 115” 4x4 I was tempted to shoot just because I wanted to get the itchy trigger finger out but as luck would have it a coyote came out at 80 yards and I decided I’d feel much less guilty shooting him than that poor little buck.
After all the country we covered he might be the only way the does in that unit get bred. We did, however see a 160-165 class bull moose.

Next up was Montana. I was able to sneak up on a perfect cold, clear, post-snow storm day.
Caught this buck in one of my old haunts. Right place at the right time. Very happy to bring a 170” public land buck home on a general tag. I’m pretty much convinced Bergara rifles chambered in 6.5 creedmoor with the 143 ELDX are the perfect hunting companions.

Looks like you had some great experiences in some beautiful country. Congratulations on a nice Montana Buck. Thanks for sharing your hunts with us.

Thanks guys. I’ve hunted Montana often enough in the past 12 years to know you don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. I had so much fun I helped get my buddy and my twin brother their first two Montana bucks. They are waaay to camera shy tho.
