So going into the draw I pretty much placed all my eggs in drawing a first rifle tag with my 8pts....needless to say new year with a new demand for what should have been a slam dunk. I waited and waited for a 1st rifle tag to show on the leftover list but the archery season looming nothing new had shown up. My dad and a couple friends were coming so I went ahead and bought a otc cow tag for archery and I think the Wednesday before were to head out for a week a new Either sex 1st rifle tag popped up and I bit the bullet on it. So back to my OTC. We had a great week but really I was the only 1 hunting. My Dad who is closing in on 70 seems to have pretty much resolved himself to the camp life and talking to other hunters as they come and go and 1 friend broke a molar the evening before he was supposed to fly out so he ended up staying home. That left me and my wife's cousin who wasn't hunting but wanted to see what it was all about. The first night we were there I called in a spike to about 40 yards and we saw a mature bull a few ridges away just before dark on some land we couldn't hunt. But it was a great start. The video picks up the next morning. The bulls on the video that are just there (no calling on camera) just happened so fast getting the camera going was about all he could do. In the end we only saw 3 cows on an opposing ridge the first night but we had an awesome week calling in bulls. I don't think we got anymore bulls on film but I still need to take a look at the Thursday and Friday video.
