I took a scouting trip/archery hunt trip to my unit last weekend with Oak and BuzzH. We had a great time and saw a ton of pronghorn. One buck that Oak and I saw kind of stuck out to me. I made a futile attempt at a spot and stalk but a doe busted me before I could close the last fifty yards. Oak got a couple pics while I was flailing around.

I had to leave that evening but what I had seen; made me work my schedule so I could return this Labor day weekend and try for the buck in the pic above.

After 3040 miles of driving in a weeks time back and forth to my area. Over sixteen hours in a blind and letting many bucks walk that I wanted to come back as soon as they were out of range. This is the beginning of the end of one of my favorite hunts.

I'll back track some (loading pics)............

Some of the bucks I let walk and some doe and fawn pics.

This one pained me, cool looking buck.

the buck in that first pic is awesome, cant wait to see the rest of the story.

That buck you let walk in the first pic would have heard the whirr of my arrow, right before it busted through both lungs and lodged in the dirt. The one you tagged looks like it has nice height and width. Congrats!

A few more that walked.

All of these are respectable archery bucks in my book. I might have made a mistake by letting some of these go but I had one buck in mind.

This buck is a dandy I think, he didn't want to play, I would've shot him if I could've gotten close enough to be comfortable.

I'll finish up with some thank you's and some hero shots. I've got to give a huge thanks to Oak, BuzzH, BigFin and Greenhorn for their help and contacts during this hunt. These guys are top notch for sure. I also met a guy up there while hunting that helped me get the goat taken apart and in the ice chest, thanks Chance.

Here are some photos and I'd love to hear guesses on the score before I post it.

And one with Chance before the field dressing took place.

Without frontal view, it is hard to guess, especially the mass measurements, but here goes. Regardless, one hell of a great buck, even more so with archery gear. Congrats, Stan.

C1 - 6 3/8
C2 - 6 6/8
Prong - 5 3/8
C3 - 3 4/8
C4 - 2 4/8
Length 16 0/8

40 4/8 X 2 = 81 0/8

Thats a great buck, and you put in the effort to get it done. Being patient payed off big, congrats.

I scribbled down some numbers from the cell phone picture yesterday...I think that buck is hiding some mass above the prong...not sure though.

C1 6-5
C2 6-7
prong 5-5
C3 4-1
C3 3-1
Length 15-6

42-1 x 2 = 84 2/8 gross.

I may be off on the length as well...looks closer to 12 inches...;)

Awesome buck Stan! Congrats! That's my old stomping grounds. I've found arrowheads near where that last pic is. Cool country and lots of antelope!
