I've got literally hundreds of photos from my goat scouting/hunts this summer and fall. I'll post a couple of the money shots first...I made my decision to hold out for an older, mature, large bodied, billy and not settle for anything less. I figured the horn length would take care of itself and I didn't want to get too caught up in trying to judge goats down to the 1/4". Good hair was a must as well.

I did a ton of resarch and scouting and on my 14th trip into the unit I found the one I wanted. I now weigh 16 pounds less than I did this summer (I was in good shape to start with). Definitley the hunt of a lifetime for me, and I now get the tough decision of deciding what to do with this guy. :)

My brother was able to join me on this trip..it was great to have him along.

I had my eye on the larger of these 2 billys.

They were the only 2 goats hanging in this secluded basin, and I found him on a couple of separate trips. I went in to kill him in early October, only to find that the trail was closed. Some a$$hole shot his horse just off the trail, and several G-bears were feeding on the carcass. By the time I was able to get back in there, there was only one small billy hanging in the area. That's what I get for bringing Critter along...damn G-bears.

What was left of the carcass by the time the trails were re-opened.

Spent a couple days in the tent with near zero visibilty on an earlier hunt.

Was able to salvage a half day out of this trip. Located a lone billy about a mile off and put the stock on him. Was able to get close. :)

Just a 3-1/2 year old billy...left him to live another day.

Well done Drake and company. Lots of work put into that adventure. Help a flatlander out here, how much bigger is he than a "normal" whitetail? Would he go 300#'s on the hoof?

Great billy, and great effort. Is that TJ in the back of the third photo? Did you get the hunt on film?

Some more random shots from scouting and early hunts...

tough to get rid of a reputation once earned I see..............Big Fin said almost the identical words this spring on our black bear outing.

Bout time you got these pics posted! Awesome job on the goat! Thanks for having me along on a few trips this year! Glad I got to be there on all the "good" weather days....LOL

Awsome Goat!! You mentioned you were not sure what to do with it. I shot my goat and settled for the shoulder mount--biggest mistake I ever made. Save up the $$ and get a full body mount. I do not think you will ever regret it. Congrats!
