As for the gunbearer I do "hunt" with it like that unless I've got my rifle in my hands. It has a quick release on the shoulder strap and though it makes a slight "pop" sound at the release, you can be in shooting position with your rifle faster than if it were slung on your shoulder.

Dink is right. I followed his instuction (and added dish soap to cut grease) on my elk and did no scraping at all. Meaty stuff gels up and falls off. Finished with power wash which was hardly needed.

I used the Arm and Hammer "washing soda", essentially the same as Sal Soda...

Nice going on the buck. Sounds like you did kill "The biggest around"!
