Getting the hang of posting pictures, will try and not overdue it.
Went to Africa in 2007 for the second time and got lucky and bagged this huge Gemsbok.
Had it scored for SCI in 2008 and at the time it was number 13 in the world at 103 4/8".

Cow???
Beats all five of my bulls but three qualify....I just don't enter
Not being a SA, that's a great Gemsbok! Where were you hunting?
Please don't say Namibia or RSA! Where?

Yes a cow, hard to find a bull with 45 3/8" horns.
Taken with Constantia Safaris. US contact 1-877-360-2710.
Thanks for the comments.

WoW!
Thats a huge Gemsbuck Concrats
I head over in August I hope to get one anywhere near that big!

Those are some COOL looking critters and definitely on my list IF I ever get to Africa.

Congrats.

Taken in a area the PH called the "Green Kalahari" I understood that it was right next to the Kalahari.

The person I hunt with in RSA has a cousin who sheep farms in the "green" Kalahari...we spent a couple of night with him on a fun trip and took some Gemsbok and Springbok on a place he can hunt. ....nothing like your monster even seen!!
The livers sure tasted better on the Gemsbok from there, native range, than the one I tried from a farm in the interior!

Very nice! How old do you guess that gemsbok would be? I'm hoping to become very well acquainted with some African animals in about 7 and-a-half months.

I don't think she was overly old. From what I have seen its seems like the older animals horns are broomed off quite a bit.

DAMN! She looks even more awesome on your wall! Pretty damn good looking Hartebeeste to her left and that white Springbok beats hell out of mine!
Thanks for posting and as our RSA friends would say, "Good show" !

TREMENDOUS cow. Congratulations. Gemsbock/oryx are amazing animals in my book. I've put my hands on a couple breaking the 40" mark and the one thing they all had in common was age, or lack-thereof. All were under 3 years old and one 43" cow even had some of her calf teeth. My best (New Mexico) comes in at just under 40" and was an old cow that a biologist aged at 8.5 years old. She was broomed and I can only imagine what length she had in her first 3 years. Unbelievable animal. Thanks for sharing.
