The wife said i couldn’t have another pickup truck until we moved out of Chicago and back to NW CO. That happened in spring of ‘23 but it took me till sept of ‘24 to finally pull the trigger on an ‘02 Tundra access cab that was for sale only a few hours away. 250k miles, basically no rust on the frame. Big 285/75 tires with decent tread on them and the truck had pretty good ground clearance which was a must cause I planned on using it to get into some nasty and rocky places. 4wd high and low worked. One tail pipe was pretty rusty but overall I was happy with the purchase. 83E07FD4-C75C-4F09-84D8-C6DC4F81E306.jpeg

I put her through the ringer during third rifle here in NW CO.01922236-73AB-4A61-BAE7-88BEC33CC9E7.jpegC6303949-C477-4D91-B2DF-BB48674DD235.jpegE0959E28-E009-4984-B272-E79C8F643159.jpeg
First day of the hunt it started making a clanging noise near the front left axle. I couldn’t figure out what it was but she kept going so we kept hunting. After the hunt, I found out I tore the left front CV axle clean out. Not really sure how we got home, but we did. Also that rusty left tail pipe didn’t survive the hunt. Not sure where it took it’s leave.

My mechanic buddy got the CV axle all fixed up for a couple hundred bucks and she was good to go.

He did the front brakes a month or so back as well.

Picked up a second set of chains for the front for next hunting season.

She’s not perfect by a longshot. Passenger side paint job doesn’t look nearly as good as the driver’s side. Tires are a little too big on the front and rub some while turning. I gotta put the skid plate back on, the guy I bought it from had it off for some reason.

Hoping to put a topper on it before next hunting season, they pop up from time to time used on FB but are all down in the Denver metro area so it’s just a matter of finding the time to make the 4 hour drive.

Hoping to get a lot of years and use/hunts out of this one. I hear these engines go forever.

Toyota 4.7L.............all the gas consumption with half the power of a regular 8!

I have her twin to the color, trim and year. 150,000 miles. "The Bone Mobile".

Always wondered if I could stuff 285s on her.
My son now has a 2000 Landcruiser with the 4.7, getting a whopping 13MPG. But it should make it another 100k

@TheGreek Just a heads up. Toyota tells you not to run chains in the front. Careful if you are rubbing without them.
Toyota doesn’t know what they are talking about. Just install them tight and cut them to length on the inside so there isn’t anything flapping around! Lol

I have the big nasties too!IMG_8385.jpeg

Chained in 2 inches of snow? C'mon. You climb trees. mtmuley
Hahaha that’s above the section that ol #deletedmember had to call mountain rescue the day after he got his truck out. It wasn’t for the snow, it was for the 6”deep grease. Honestly I probably wouldn’t have used them if I was by myself but he was still in panic mode and every little slip he almost had a heart attack. The road back to camp was 18” deep and needed them for that. It was easier just to leave them on.

Just giving you crap. I've run into scaredy cats on the mountain. I even chained a guys truck with my chains to get down one night. Down hill is as bad as up sometimes. If I could have driven around him I might have left him there. But I'm a nice guy. mtmuley
