Recommendations on a 20-22” 6.5 Creedmore with a threaded barrel. I have a couple of 24” but don’t want to mess with barrel work. Prefer a 20” . Don’t want to break the bank either

Got a hacksaw, 20, 18, or even 16 if that's what you want. Just make sure to set the drill right when enlarging the front hole. Actually I remember reading that no drill worked just as well.

My Tikka T3X CTR, 20" is a consistent half-MOA rifle (and often better). Touch heavy to be packing up and down sheer cliffs but not bad for all around hunting.

What i've done and would do again - find the cheapest 6.5 tikka online and have them ship directly to someone to chop/thread, then ship to your FFL. There are new configs out there with shorter/threaded barrels but they usually get a premium over a basic lite model that you can have someone chop/thread for cheap.

Then put it in a Pure Precison stock.

I am with @Wind Gypsy on the Pure Precision stock. The one I had on a 300 RUM seemed to really exaggerate the muzzle rise due, I suspect, to the drop at heel. I also didn’t care for how big the grip was. I did like the contour of the forearm for hand carrying. It felt much better in my hand than the Alterra stock that replaced it.

Totally different strokes for different folks, just giving him a hard time. The Pure Precisions seem to fit me just about perfectly, so I've become a huge fan.

My Bergara with the carbon fiber wrapped 22" threaded barrel shot great as it came from the factory. Later I swapped on a Boyds laminate stock that is a little bigger than the lightweight factory stock and fits me better.

And the way it looks now:

It comes with a muzzle brake which reduces recoil considerably, but I like shooting it more without the brake. A suppressor would be nice.

Shoots real well for 3 shots but groups tend to open up if I push it to 5 shots. Me or the rifle? Not sure.

Regards, Guy
