I'm looking at getting a 17 hmr. I've narrowed it down to the ruger american(not sure standard or compact) or the cz 455. Any one with first hand experience out there with these two. I know the ruger hasn't been out long. Thanks for any input.

I have the Ruger standard. Great little gun. Crisp trigger. I think the Savage with the accutrigger might be a little better though. That was the one that I originally wanted but it wasn't available/in stock when I was ready to buy. I don't really think you can go wrong with any of these three choices. It sure if an accurate fun gun to shoot. Good luck.

I'm a big fan of the CZ 455.
Very accurate, my .17 shoot sub 1/2 MOA groups.
It is a squirrel killing machine.
The only problem with CZs is they put the safety on backwards. Push to safe, pull it back to shoot.
Excellent trigger right out of the box, and lots of aftermarket parts if you want to customize.
The CZ costs about a hundred bucks more than the Ruger, and it dosn't come with rings.

With a 4.5X14 Burris FF II

Three shots, 1/3 inch at 100 yards
