The CPW Commissioners are all volunteers, so I don't think this argument holds water. CPW staff recommends prices, I believe, but their salaries are far from plush (google says avg salary is $49k).

i'm not saying their salaries are plush, but when what, like, 60% of your department is some sort of hatchery technician or seasonal employee, the avg salary is gonna look bad.

We also have no statewide organising/lobbying organisation representing the interests of all hunters, trappers (remember them?), and anglers.

I volunteer with CO BHA. They have a "Take Action" alert right now for the bill introduced to ban cat hunting. Some people have some animosity towards BHA, but for a bunch of volunteers, I think we are doing pretty well.

There is also the CO Trappers and Predator Hunters Association that if VERY active. Dan Gates is involved in everything and speaks at almost every CPW Commissioners meeting on a variety of topics.

Not saying it is...but as a resident of this state I would like to see some kind of advantages to residents over NR. And the way point creep has hit the rest of draw units well there is not much to look forward to there. Yes I know there will be opportunities just a little butt hurt over how the state handles things

And some of the most expensive resident tag cost when you add in all the additional fee's. $85.76 for a resident that just wants to deer hunt in 2022. Definitely the lowest return on investment with the super short and ridiculously crowded seasons. I gave up hunting west of I-25 cause its so bad.

For all the folks to wrote & spoke to the state legislature in favor of the latest (and ongoing) fee increase with absolutely nothing in return, THANKS A LOT!

My buddy was a GIS analyst for CPW… lol basically volunteering compared to private sector. Absolutely could make more working at Walmart stocking shelves.

no joke. these days it's looking like checking groceries at kroger will be more lucrative.

but that said, i basically spent the first 1 to 1.5 years of my career doing nothing but GIS and AutoCAD.

i'm not an engineer and i only took one GIS course in college. it seems to me after that experience there is a reason that CAD monkey's don't need to be engineers and often don't get paid that well. especially in consulting, then consider the state gov side...

It would be laughable if they weren't so serious and motivated. These people show up. They comment at every CPW Commissioners meeting.
