New rifle, barrel, or cut and thread existing

I think the most common recommendation is .1” barrel diameter over major thread diameter or .05” per side minimum.

McMillan Mountain Tracker LR for Tikka

I haven’t held either of these but have seen some other Stocky’s stocks. They have been pretty nice especially for the price. The Peak 44 stocks look pretty good too.

    Basically the same as this.

McMillan Mountain Tracker LR for Tikka

Their site makes it sound like it’s a lot of effort to make a Tikka version. I don’t have any skin in this game. I’m just letting people know that there is already a very similar option out there.

New rifle, barrel, or cut and thread existing

No adapter. 5/8x24 threaded about twice as long as normal with a collar loctited in place for a shoulder. Maximum thread diameter is .625” and the barrel diameter before threading was .635 or slightly more. Works great without any tolerance stacking.

New rifle, barrel, or cut and thread existing

Why the 20” minimum for a collar? My Tikka 300 WSM is threaded 5/8x24 with a collar at factory 24” length with no issues.

McMillan Mountain Tracker LR for Tikka

True, but you’re not on a waiting list for something that may not happen. I don’t think UM was prepared for the amount of sales they would get, but I bet they figure it out before this other more expensive option even exists.

Why not just go with Unknown Munition’s Rokstock for less $$?

    Vertical shot string

If you overlap most of those shots I bet you are within the rifles cone of fire. Pick one of those loads that you like the velocity of, load up 10-20, and see what it does. The stringing will probably look more like a circle.

Need advice on a tripod and head

The Innorel tripods get good reviews for the price. I wouldn’t be surprised if they make some of the higher priced brands, just rebadged. I have a Zomei aluminum one that works good for the price but if I upgrade to carbon fiber I’ll try one of the Innorels.

    300 wsm Ballistics help

Also need to have the elevation correct. Most calculators have sea level as the standard. Temperature and humidity can have an impact also.

    Ballistic Help

Your optics are always straight line of sight to the target. The barrel is angled up in relation to optics line of sight which sends the bullet through its arc.

    Speer Impact

Not a cup-n-core. They are bonded to the jacket. BC seems pretty close at least to 500 yards with the 190 grn 308. Shooting very well in my Tikka 300 WSM.

Looking for suggestions on a new caliber

There’s quite a bit of 25-06 ammo available on ammoseek.

Looking for suggestions on a new caliber

7mm-08 would be a great choice.

    Target practice on Wild Horses

Agreed, not that many wild horses south of 20 until you are south of Beaver Rim. Gets way worse south of Jeffery City towards the interstate.

Why can't I figure out my scope? Am I really that dense?

With that flat shooting of a cartridge getting 100 yard zero on the downward curve will be tricky.
