    A Proper Sheep Rifle

Sheep, goat, moose… One cannon for all. Lol A friend tried 6.5 creedmore on a goat. It is collecting dust. He went big too. You learn real fast up here. A 1300 lbs moose will walk away with today’s light loads and rifles. If I was looking for another rifle it would be 28 Nosler. By the way I...

    A Proper Sheep Rifle

Up here in the north we don’t shoot light rifles or light bullets. Maybe overkill to some but a 110 grain bullet will not do it. Mountains are bare and the wind is wicked. But again it is always personal. I did use on most of my hunts a 7 RUM. 180 grain.

    A Proper Sheep Rifle

Sheep are tough. Wounding them is not advisable. It can roll to the bottom of the mountain. Also most are long shots,300-400 yards. Long range shooters hold your horses. Lol 7mm and up. Good optics and not too heavy. Something you comfortably shoot and carry.

Active fires and hunting, whats your thoughts?

Fire and smoke can be used to your advantage. Less hunters ,animals will be more concentrated in small areas with less smoke. Usually lower on the mountains and closer to water sources. Go for it.

    What does this buck score?

They always shrink without the velvet. I still think a very respectable buck. I will say under 165 for sure. It doesn’t have the mass needed for the high score. Please let us know!

Venting Frustration....Not going to be able to hunt this year?

It is real tough to take for sure. It sucks the life out of you. All the excitement of the draw is gone. I had a similar experience, got the once in a lifetime draw for a Roosevelt Elk. Heart problems and a quadruple bypass August 30th five years ago. Still against all logic and unknown to...

    Stuck Brass

Thanks guys for letting me know about nickel plated reloading. I do reload brass only. That is all I have. My two cents on the subject is ,when I see a sticky bolt always stop and check pressure. It scares the heck out of me. I do always use a chronograph,to compare and figure out things...

    To illuminate or not

Never used one, always traditional. I had the same question for a long time. Would like to know mostly if your focus changes. In low light conditions would probably help. And hope someone makes some comments about accuracy. And how it affects your focus after the shot.
