What did you make...$2500? This assumes you didn't close it out when it ran back about $200/sh. If you waited you could have closed with it below $140. And using RSI over the 3mos would have drove a person crazy. Timing is everything- SAJ-99

Agree, but the way FWP manages antelope is completely different. As Gerald says, it may just be because everyone is used to it. But then FWP should just say "that is the way the majority of MT R hunters want it";. No need for 3 days of video presentation or even the CAC at all. Maybe they should... -

Why do these problems not exist for antelope? The NR v. R debate doesn't seem the same. Why does FWP manage antelope one way (unit tags, pick your weapon, pick your unit) with the R being fine with it, but MD and elk are different? tradition, ie, "we have always done it that way"? I can see this point and agree with them. My only counter would be 1) The NRs didn't create the convoluted draw process by which combo tags get to be reissued at 120% of the value and 2) changes are so hard to get done. If you are willing to put up the fight, don't stop at the easy stuff. -

Montana is years behind WY on migration data too. It wasn't until the first positive CWD test that they started putting more collars on deer. When I talked to the bio he literally said "Almost none of the deer migrated to where we thought they would." -

Should also add that I can anecdotally think of times where harvest would matter. I remember reading/hearing somewhere about an early heavy snow pushing elk out of the Bob and it was a turkey shoot on public land WMA. ever since, they has had trouble getting elk to migrate back to that WMA. I... -

I would say he is clearly wrong about the cost given the amount of states that do them, but might be correct on the data. Hunters overemphasize harvest. I have even complained a little that FWP overemphasizes harvest in their model. Using past harvest to adjust for future harvest is backwards...
