35 Whelen
Without any real attempt to do so on my part, I find myself in possession of four 30-06 bolt action rifles and often hunt with one. I've seriously considered getting one of them re-bored to 35 Whelen or the slightly different 9.3x62. Both are just a bit behind the 375 H&H for power. Both are... -

Hiking options
Southwest for sure! It snowed again in our northwest mountains last night. Looks like the fresh snow line is at about 2,000' ASL. Southwest has lots of great hiking/backpacking trails available. Beautiful out there too. Enjoy! Guy- Guy

Big Bullets for Big Animals?
I've shot three black bear with my Ruger Number One in 375 H&H, all spot and stalk hunts. Two more with the 30-06, one of those was over bait, the other spot and stalk. Intended to hunt elk and African big game with the 375, but that hasn't happened. May not. Previous owner of my 375 used it... -

Barrel length and suppressors
Can doesn't add velocity. Sometimes a bit, sometimes not at all. Variable. No huge increase for sure. When you chop the barrel to accommodate the can, you lose that velocity. Often the loss is worthwhile because shooting with a can is really nice on the shooter. But yes, there's a price to pay...- Guy

Scope for my new Henry 45-70
Here's the Skinner peep and scope mount, Talley QR rings and a 1" tube 1.5-5x Leupold I've had for some years. Mounted it on a Henry 360 Buckhammer and it's working out GREAT. Regards, Guy -

Gratuitous Bird and Dog Photos
Head is tucked under the body. A pellet nailed him in the head and it was a bloody mess... so it stayed out of the photograph. :) Soon as dog brought me the bird I thought "no photos of head-shot bird" BTW, in deference to the 90 year old gun I use bismuth shot. Not allowed to use lead...- Guy

Maverick and I took a walk up a canyon not far from town this morning. He found a pheasant and the old Remington 32 brought it down handily. We're both pretty pleased about that! Happy Guy & Maverick right now. Happy Thanksgiving all.- Guy

Deer - lets see em
Enjoyed watching this one for a few minutes. I'd already taken a muley so my tag had been notched. Kept on "hunting" with the camera for a day or two. -

30-06 is never a bad choice. Do it all rifle did it again. Photo was a few years ago, I haven't hunted pronghorn in a few years. Love the hunt, the critters and the meat! Guy -
