I had an old flat back 110 trued and timed by Sharp Shooter Supply. I didn't do it for accuracy reasons, I did it to smooth up primary extraction and bolt manipulation. As expected there was no real discernable difference in accuracy after the work (it was already a really good shooter) but the...
Thankfully no :)
I did pick up a S&W 915 in a trade for and old rifle I wasn't using, it's a little on the heavy side for packing around but it's fun to shoot.
I highly recommend "Gunsmithing Modern Firearms". It's a fabulous book that teaches you about all kinds of DIY gunsmithing projects. Really a great read!

I follow Erik Cortina's method for breaking in a barrel, which is to say he doesn't.
A barrel does speed up for the first 80-100 rounds so I guess that's a "break in" but I clean it as needed not using a prescribed formula.
You guys know that the magic isn't is the "6.5" part of the name it's all in "Creedmoor", right? As long as it's a "Creedmoor" it can do anything.
For example the 6mm Creedmoor makes the 243win look like an ancient pile of dung. 😜
Fun thread! Merry Christmas!
I have read all of Nathan's books (except the most recent one which I think is more of a memoir) and consider him to be somewhat of an authority as his documented kill count is in the 1000s.
BUT....
You have to realize he's mostly approaching bullet terminal performance from a long range...
Well I couldn't stand it, I bought a Bell and Carlson stock so I can shoot it ASAP. Microfit stocks have a lead time and it would take me a while to finish it so I wouldn't get to shoot this baby for a while if I went that route. I can still do it for a fun project later on. But for right now...
Hello everyone,
I couldn't pass up the super deal Brownells ran over the Labor Day weekend.
$250 for a Howa barrelled action chambered in 6mm creedmoor. I'm thinking about using this as basis for a bit of project to do some DIY experimenting.
Try Duracoating the action and barrel
Get and...
I bought a pair of Leupold 15x56 BX-5 binos because I couldn't pass up the ridiculous deal on Europtic ($799). After using it in the field a little today I thought I'd share my impressions.
First, some background. I have a lot of time behind Swaro 15x56 SLC, a very brief look through Meopta...
I almost picked up that tag, but decided to just focus on OTC archery instead. I haven't hunted that unit but I have hunted 29 which is right in the middle of it, you should be able to find some deer if you're willing to work at it a bit.
I used to carry 12x50 binos and the 11-33x50 razor...
+1 (or 2 or 3?) on going with the 40mm objective. For a hunting rig the lower you can get that scope down the easier it's going to be for you to use. The 20moa base is going to raise the back of the scope up more than a flat rail, so having the small objective will help you keep it low.
That's...
The turret label is done so I'm a officially putting a bow on load development...at least until I run out of H1000 lol!
Time to start practicing for Wyoming in October!
You should be able to get there. I ran the 162ELDX up over 2900 with no pressure issues with H4831. It's probably going to be my backup load when I run out of H1000.
