Both commissioners stated that they never met or even exchanged emails regarding the OpEd. Both said they just signed off on it independently. Regardless, I'm glad someone is holding them accountable. The OpEd was deplorable and Beaulieu was embarassed enough to feign illness to avoid...
The "north side of the park" could be a lot of things - 13,000' peaks down to 8,000' desert. Really curious as to cause of death. Temps were 20-40 degF, but no precipitation.
If the 2nd amendment only protects ownership and doesn't protect a right to purchase/transfer a gun, then you are saying that a state law could effectively ban guns within one generation. I don't believe this is what is intended by 2A.
I keep trying to think of analogies that support KK...
At least the NFA is limited to guns/suppressors that are arguably not necessary to defend freedom. The CO (and CA?) tax are on ALL guns and ammo. And yes, so is P-R, which is unfortunate, if it gets thrown out too.
Again, I'm not a lawyer, but that argument doesn't hold water for me. If the gov't imposed a 10,000% tax on guns and ammo, that would not violate the 2nd Amendment??
I can't think of an example of taxing a right enumerated in the US Constitution. It would be like paying a tax for voting, or speaking, or going to church.
Ok, maybe. But it's like putting a tax on all cars that pays for alcoholism prevention and vehicular manslaughter victims. It's ridiculous to tax a legitimate right to pay for the actions of a few law breakers.
I'm no Constitutional scholar, but a tax on a Bill of Rights right, seems untenable. The downside is that Pittman-Robertson may be thrown out in the process (baby with the bath water). An analogous tax on the 1st Amendment would be something like saying, "Of course, you can...
We're talking about the group that puts nearly naked women in cages and literally throws red paint on hunters for publicity stunts, right? Who's doing the painting? One of us is confused.
I don't think banning ballot initiatives in anti-democracy. If you understand that the petition gatherers are paid per signature, and understand that anyone getting paid per signature is going to say literally anything to get someone to sign, you can understand that there is nothing democratic...
Colorado has mail-in ballots, so people have been sending them in for weeks now. However, anyone can vote in-person on Tuesday at a polling station (if they already mailed in a ballot or lost theirs, the in-person ballot will be the one that is counted).
Reminds me too much of all the infantryman I know who have permanent back problems from carrying too much gear. Hopefully Kara's spine-crushing trauma was short enough in duration to avoid that kind of long-term trouble.
I had a moose tag in AK a few years ago and was trying to prepare for the...
I submit samples as required for the game agencies to track it, but I don't consider it a human risk and I don't look up the results. Happy as a clam here.
Why "North American Pronghorn Foundation"? Isn't that redundant? Are there pronghorn anywhere outside of NA?
I'm sending money anyway, just curious if it's a marketing thing with the name??
I talked to a coworker who I thought would be better informed. She was flabbergasted to know that people eat mtn lion, that lions eat (or at least kill) about a deer each week. So on and so on. Most people are clueless - you have to tell them! They will listen! Vote No on 127.
How about something like,
"Activists behind Prop 127 are lying to voters. They claim that drones are being used to hunt mountain lions. Hunting anything with drones is completely illegal in CO. They also claim that cats are strangled after they are captured. This is also illegal in Colorado...
