Yes, I always call and email them. Both were on vacation. but expecting info soon. I have several notebooks filled with info and hundreds of research emails.
I use all that, plus Onx, Gohunt, hunting fool, Google earth and much more.
There isn't better intel than boots on the knowledge...
Ya, that's the chance you take I guess. I figure we stand a decent chance of drawing in the special tag allocation. According to Go hunt, its 100, but point creep can happen too.

I'm pretty sure it's a good hunt, just need some real advise and opinions. We all could've killed bulls during our deer hunt last year and the elk season was in full swing.

My coworker has hunted it and his son drew a cow tag that starts in October i believe. The bio told him there is 450 elk right now in there and they want it down to 150. I'm sure once folks get hunting in there, the pressure will move them a lot.
Good hunting and be safe.

Exactly why I was curious which unit numbers they were looking at. I've hunted over there once for elk in that part of Idaho . It's all big country.

I use these as a general biological guide, but know as you that weather etc will dictate a lot of things.
We're hunting Sept 5th thru 14th in Oregon for archery. Lately our elk have been on rut through October however.
