22 lbs of venison mixed with 3 lbs of bacon ends is the perfect mix for my burger grind. When making sausages I do 70% venison, 15% pork fat, and 15% pork butt. That ratio has turned out a bunch of excellent sausages over the years.
I killed a bird there opening morning. Glad I did because it has been a zoo ever since. We will get back out there this weekend trying to get the wife a bird. We hunt with our two sons ages 6 and 4 so it is a bit more difficult but they absolutely love it. They were with me when I got mine...
General tag cow hunting is from Oct 20-Nov 11 in the North and South units and NOT on National Forest land. They scaled back the number of B licenses as part of the changes but still giving out 475 of those as well.
It is the "best " unit in the state for one thing. Drawing in tons of hunters to apply for the tag, freeing up more opportunity in other great units. 380 is right out my back door and I don't apply there for bulls. But I sure appreciate the applicant vacuum that it creates. It is a nice place to...
I am in my 7 year wait for Goats and I bought my point last year and will continue to do so. By the time I can apply again I will have 5 or 6 points which is more than I had when I drew my tag.
I can't think of any knowledgeable hunter that would hunt doves there. With a start date of September 30 and steel shot only, why bother? They could at least allow other forms of non toxic shot as the lethality of steel sucks.
I favor my .260 Remington for elk and it has performed flawlessy so far on a couple animals. A creedmore has a little more punch than a .260 so I am sure you will be fine.
I know some guys in Da UP of Michigan that had some screws in the base of some little forky horns. If they needed meat and season was winding down they would shoot a Doe and screw them in. Nobody would ever question them as long as the horns were there. They took turns shooting the same forky on...
I have killed a couple bulls with a 7mm-08 and the 120 TTSX. Neither took more than a couple steps and the bullets performed perfectly. I killed one a little over 200 yards, and one at around 40 yards.
