    New Video (Big Bear!!)

I just watched the teaser on youtube. It looks stretched out. How hard was it to get permits for the filming? I'm guessing a lot of this was done on public lands. I'm interested mainly in the Canadian permitting process. Thanks. Ken

    Monterey

Yeah, I did hunt D7 and did a lot of fishing in Dinkey Creek when I was a kid too. Spent a lot of time at Huntington Lake water skiing and fishing, skiing at Sierra Summit. To tell how old I am we went to Courtright and Wishon way before the road was paved too. Courtright was always one of my...

That's one of the places I miss in California. Spent a lot of time in Santa Cruz when I was a lot younger. Fished out of Monterey a lot too. Nice photos A-con. I grew up in Fresburg.

    Black Bear

You're right. The other guy Glacier Mountain I've never heard of before. From looking at his web site it's not clear if his PWS hunts are boat based or not. He does claim to be in the top 1% of the guiding profession though, whatever that means.:)

    Black Bear

No problem. I've been here quite a while, and know a lot of folks. Always willing o point someone in the right direction. You can probably get a black bear bigger than the brown bear Moosie got last year.

Are you leaning towards guided or unguided? You should get some good info here, but it does make a difference if you're looking for a guide or not.

    wolves?

wolf tags There are some hunting units you don't have to buy a tag. I know unit 19 is one, and there are some others. Limits are very liberal in most units. I've called them in howling at them from a long ways off to within rifle range. They don't always com in easy because they are smart though.

    I'm on my way!

I came up here in 1988 for a 2 week vacation. On the 4th day I was here I called my boss in Kalifornia and gave my 2 weeks notice, then called my wife and told here I just quit my job. We loaded as much as we could in a pickup and travel trailer and hit the road a couple months later. Neither...

    Fishing Success

Another to contact is Otter Sea Charters. He's another small volume charter we've gone out with for the last 5 years. He even re-married my wife and I on his boat on our 25th anniversary. Not like we needed to do that again. :) His name is Steve and his phone numbers are: 907.245.1579 or...

    Anchor Point

Anchor Point is on the Kenai Peninsula, pretty close to Homer, which is on the bottom end of the peninsula. I live in Anchorage, but know where it is. A long scenic drive from here. Ken

    Who's coming up?

Here's the two places I was thinking about. The Micotel is closer to the airport, has a free shuttle from the airport. The Courtyard Marriott is across the street from Lake Hood and the Millennium Hotel (formerly the Regal Alaskan and I can't remember what else), walking distance to Gwennie's...

    Who's coming up?

There's a couple of new hotel/motels in the same area. Don't recall the names right now, but I'll check it out and get back to you. The Barrett is a good one, but yeah, why spend the extra money on a room when you could buy me a beer instead. :) I'll check out the other places and get back here...

1 pointer, I'll probably be out hunting in September, but might be in town at the end of your hunt. For sure I'd like to get together with you if I'm here. Steiny, if you get a chance while going through Anchorage we should get together too. I think I'm heading out for brown bear hunting April 8...
