    MO Paddlefish Fun

We took our kids on a short fishing trip for spring break. I’ve always wanted to catch a paddlefish and now we have! I paid a guide service for 2 mornings of fishing and luckily the weather cooperated. My boys had a blast reeling in fish that are bigger than them!

SB 80 Eliminating NR LO & Tenant Permits

SB 80 was introduced by the KS Livestock Association. We are just going to watch this one and probably submit neutral testimony. This will likely be a contentious bill if/when it gets a hearing.

Let’s Stand Up and Play Offense in 2025

Most of us have seen the recent Op-Ed pieces that promote selling federally managed lands, or have at least heard about the effort by Utah to transfer/sell lands. Why are we letting them drive the conversation? Let’s tell our story and educate the masses about this subject. I would bet that...

Anyone following this? This is the first I have heard of it. Below is a small excerpt from an email I received yesterday. On Tuesday, the House Appropriations Committee will be holding a markup of their Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act which would slash funding...

    Granby Lake Area Vacation

Heading to the Granby Lake area for a family vacation in a few weeks. It kind of snuck up on me. My wife booked it and I just realized that it is coming up soon. Just wondering if anyone has recommendations of things to do or places to go?

Alright, since I know most of you guys waited, or have no idea that Mother’s Day is Sunday, how about some gift ideas for wives? I have nothing to contribute because I can’t think of anything.

    Kansas CWD

I knew CWD was spreading in KS, but this graphic doesn’t paint a great picture for the future. KS’ current CWD testing program is not great, and they test a very low percentage of the overall harvest. I will probably start testing all of my deer moving forward.

    Solo Elk Adventure to Remember

I have been hunting elk every year with my brother since 2017. We generally have done party applications on archery tags and have gotten pretty lucky including drawing NM twice. We have also been marginally successful. Between my older brother and myself, we have killed 7 bulls since we...

    Youth Gun Scope Recommendations

Picking up a compact 7mm-08 for my boys to use as an all around gun in the coming years. I have a 4.5-14x50 Leupold that I could put on it. Im just wondering if a 50mm scope is going to be too high for them to get a good sight picture? Any experience or recommendations? Should I buy a...

Nevada FCFS Virtually Dead for NRs

Anyone else see this? This really devalues the system, and basically kills it for nonresidents. Residents are going to enjoy it.

How often to reload Muzzleloader in the backcountry?

I am heading out to CO next week for a muzzleloader elk hunt. I’m just curious what other people do. Do you leave your gun loaded the entire time, or reload it every couple of days due to moisture concerns?

    Custer Bison Draw

Can someone clarify how this draw works? I’m assuming they are including preference point only applicants in the “number of applicants” column, but that isn’t very clear on the website.

    NV 131-134 Mule Deer

Was not expecting this at all. Already have my hunting pretty well planned for the Fall. Low odds of drawing, but I’m not entirely sure I want the tag especially with the drought. Anyone have opinions on this tag or area? What would you do? I live in KC so it’s no small trip.
