What do you think is an appropriate lead free bullet for hunting in California? I was very disappointed with the performance of a Winchester "Copper Impact" 30-06 on a ram I shot last weekend, took multiple shots to the chest with the 30-06, and then some more finishing shots from a sidearm to... -

Double-tapping with a .243 vs one shot with 30-06?
So, I was thinking that, especially in places that require copper bullets, since a lot of times a powerful 30-06 will pass through the animal leaving a small hole and dumping a lot of the energy into the ground after exiting the animal..... Why not hunt with something like a semi-auto Browning... -

Finding bear in California in the Sierras this November/December?
Any tips on how I can find a bear before the year ends in the Sierras in Cali this year? I know I should be looking in 3-6k feet of elevation where there are hopefully still some acorns, anything else would be appreciated.- DoveEater

San Diego Long Range Fishing Help
I can wholeheartedly recommend the Intrepid, I just did a 1.75 day on it this past Spring targeting big bluefin tuna, boat is very, very nice and the crew genuinely friendly and helpful.- DoveEater

Marlin 1895 SBL with see thru scope rings?
Managed to score a new Ruger made Marlin 1895 SBL in 45-70 at Bass Pro recently. It came with an XS ghost ring sight which would be ok if only using the gun for defense against large dangerous game up close, but not really for hunting at 100+ yards like I hope to have the chance to do with it... -
