Congrats on a great bull. You did the tag justice with the time put you in. When I had the tag in 2021 I killed my bull just below where it looks like you were. I used the same strategy many days, dropping in on the top of them. I had the whole unit cow tag there this year. As luck would have it...

Montana House Bill 676 - This could sell off 1.25M acres of State Trust Lands - that's almost 25%!!! This is not the Homesteading Bill

wonder if state land that touches corner to corner (corner crossing) is would be considered “inaccessible”.

Only bad deal is it’s public land gone forever. Who knows, perhaps some kind of easement could open that land up in the future.

Is the 300 WSM still a viable choice of caliber?

300 WSM is a short action and you can run a shorter barrel. Smaller gun overall, idea being a backcountry gun. Not trying to go ultra ultra light, Rifle with scope and suppressor would come in around 9.5lbs. If I went 300 Win mag i'd have to run a 2 - 4" longer barrel.

Is the 300 WSM still a viable choice of caliber?

Basically looking to build a rifle that I can trust a bit more on elk than the 6.5 PRC. In the last few years myself and a few friends have taken quite a few elk with the 6.5 PRC. It does the job but not in the same way as elk Ive seen taken with a 300 Win Mag. Originally had thought 300 Win Mag...

Is the 300 WSM still a viable choice of caliber?

What would you suggest instead? Interestingly Ive had nothing but great results with the Accubond LR out of my 6.5 PRC

Is the 300 WSM still a viable choice of caliber?

I would probably be looking at factory ammo such as the Nosler Accubond long range 190 grain as long as the gun would group with them. If I'm looking at it correctly those should still expand well at lower velocities. According to the Nosler data it shows at 600 yards the energy fps to be 1699...

Is the 300 WSM still a viable choice of caliber?

Im hoping to hear peoples thoughts on the 300 WSM and if it still would be a worth while rifle purchase, especially now that there are cartridges like the 7 prc, 7 saum 300 prc etc. I am working on having a custom rifle built. The intention is for backcountry hunting primarily. As it stands...

    Montana 2025 Legislative Session

Is it correct that HB 139 would allow still the commission to change "general units" into LE units? Or allow for general hunting until Nov 6, then the unit would go LE after Nov 6?
