Hopefully those were raised in large flight pens before release. Nothing worse for gun dog steadiness than docile balloons that just sit there when the dog breaks from point.
I was a big fan of antlers for the dogs, right up until I had to pay for surgery to have a broken tooth removed from our older dog. Nylabones are about the hardest thing they get to chew on these days.
I think we got a week before the handle was chewed off the jolly ball that we bought. But at least the poops laced with bright red plastic were easy to see.
It's a terrible photo, but it's the first wild chukar for both me and Ruby. She ended up bumping 4 coveys. In retrospect, I should have dropped down lower on the hillside, the wind was coming up over the top, so she was approaching the birds from uphill/upwind.
