    Unit 8 has some good bulls. Unless there is a ton of snow, I would hunt up high around Williams to the east. A lot of hunters are usually around Bill Williams mtn. Wear at least 400G boots, layer with waterproof clothing and bring a sled to haul out your elk.

    Seeing some pre-rut activity here in Idaho yesterday. I live about 1/2 mile from an elk farm, so when those elk start bulging, the rut is usually beginning around here at least. About 75 elk in the farm with 10 of those white.

    It looks like the lope numbers are down in SE Idaho, although during the later winter months I saw quite a few large herds. The past few weeks, not as many. Not sure if better feed is up in the foothills or if they had a winter die off. Just my observation driving highways and not scouting.

    I've baited the Lolo area a couple of times for bears. Only takes a day or two for them to come in to the bait. Glassing can be good, the forest is so thick, it's hard to glass in areas.

    Torn Meniscus....Anyone?

    Had my meniscus surgery last year, 1st week of August. I was able to hunt mid Sept., although on easier hikes. Took about 5 to 6 months for 100%. Ortho surgeon said your body will let you know when you've done too much. Glad I had the surgery though.
