My understanding from economists' current models is that the economic damage due to the shutdown will be less than if we were not to shutdown (ideally for as short a period of time as possible) and let the virus run rampant. I heard that discussed today by Scott Galloway.
I don't usually wade into contentious topics via text, whether that be on a forum or over actual phone texting, because I believe true understanding, perspective, and agreements are nearly impossible to come by.
I don't know how to express my confusion at your post, or how to even begin...
It's important to remember (as many in this thread have failed to do so) that the point of all of these restrictions, including those set upon outdoor recreation, are to prevent resource and infrastructural strain on healthcare facilities. You must realize, our hospitals have nowhere near enough...
Not sure how expensive, but I recommend hunting the big woods of upstate NY and central Maine. I went to college in Maine, and the hunting can be excellent once you find the spots. Whitey, Black Bear, and Moose to be found aplenty.
Big whitey in NY. Had a good buddy stationed at Ft. Drum. It's...
I have a blackhawk serpa sportster for my glock 20 that fits nicely on the waistband strap of my pack (right side - draw hand), and I have my bear spray over the strap on my left waistband pad.
Very comfortable, convenient, and accessible.

I recommend a bipod. I run the Harris 12-25'', which allows a stable platform in both a prone and sitting position. If you want to use your pack as an additional platform if the ground isn't ideal because of grass or whatever, you can still rest your rifle w/ folded bipod on the pack.
FYI I have found this site to be the most up to date and easily navigated in terms of checking on statistics in the United States. Please leave political opinions/comments regarding NYT out of this thread. Thanks and stay safe folks...
Unreal! Glad to hear the deputy was initially ok, and I imagine the hospital she visited was quick with Rabies treatment.
Hunting and recreating where I do, I am constantly playing out how I would handle a Mountain Lion attack in my head. Probably won't go well.
Great recommendations in this thread. Highly highly recommend Carlin's podcast (and paying to listen to the old ones), and the show Vikings. I will check out Roman Empire.
I have been loyal to Vortex due to a military pro-deal, but discount aside, I have been completely happy with all of their glass and I recommend it readily. I run a Razor HD gen II for rifle hunting, and it is as good as any rifle scope I have ever looked through. I believe their binoculars are...
Been trying some country adjacent to the park, no luck yet. Taking another crack this weekend. Would appreciate any hot tips and I am happy to share info. Feel free to PM.
Welcome! I've been in Bozeman for six months now, but moved from Missoula, so I am familiar with the area and this side of the state. Shoot me a PM whenever and I'd be happy to grab a beer!
My hunting partner has the fury, and they are great when things are slow, and for ranging your landmarks. I know he regrets the buy for archery hunting though, and carries a rangefinder for quick measurements. It's a pain to get those things up and down frequently when elk are coming in fast and...
Too funny - I came to hunttalk today to post the exact same thread. It seems like 10x42 is the winner for me, since most of my hunting is archery elk in timber. I have a compact spotter that I use more during rifle season, but even with new optics (I am looking at the Razor UHDs from vortex), I...
