Not really, although I prefer Hingham. Of course, if you want to live there, I got a lead on a couple of lots that I could talk my dad into selling. Another Montana town I could live in although there aren't many elk there and the old hill county sneak puts a big hurt on the deer population...
The garage was open later in the 2000s. I think that they remodeled around 2016 and became a taproom. Shine or something like that. I haven't been there since.
I'd be in Ekalaka living on the ranch my grandmother grew up on if my wife would move there, but for now I'm stuck in Bozeman. I grew up here and have seen many of the changes through the years. It's definitely tough. I don't hunt anywhere around here anymore. Draw a 3 hr circle around...
Well, finally sent comments. Growing up in the area, this has traditionally been a wait for weather to drive elk out of the park and hopefully be in the right place at the right time. I remember as a kid in the 90s having a literal firing line on Deckard flats as well as stories of fistfights...
With the way FWP is these days I doubt it unfortunately. Maybe Greenhorn is onto something with the buffer zone tags. I used to hunt those areas when I was in high school and college on the general tag if I recall correctly.
Now that the season has ended, I have 13 resident bonus elk points to burn. I have been putting in for the Elkhorns bull tag since about 1992. I had a year I messed up and burned some bonus points on a cow tag in the elkhorns and I'm tired of packing the points around as there are a few...
I have 2 ea oak and 2 ea maple plaques that can be used as either a wall mount or table mount to display your European mount. I will ship or can meet up in the Gallatin Valley. Please let me know if you have any questions. Price is $60 ea + shipping
If I recall correctly, the landowner tags is how Go Hunt was started. I could be wrong and it was long ago, but in 2015 when I was introduced to Go Hunt from a friend it was presented to me as a website that connected a hunter with a landowner selling a tag. I could have my facts messed up...
I think the sheer fact that your are asking the question will ensure that you will be fine. I would not be afraid to talk to people (quietly of course) at trailheads/parking areas, etc. Be mindful of where people are hunting. If someone beats you to a spot let them have it and get up earlier...
