First time Colorado Elk Hunting - 62 or 521 for 1st rifle season?

Import/export issues to the Hunt chip with new OnX update
Am I the only one that is more than a little disappointed that OnX seems to no longer be supporting the Hunt chip as they have in the past? With this new update they made the web and app platform a whole lot better, but they don't seem to care that you spend all that time marking up your online... -

Why do first focal plane (FFP) scopes tend to be heavier?

Solar charger for cell phones
Anyone have suggestions for the best solar charging packs/cells for backpacking? There are so many models on Amazon, but the reviews aren't, largely, vetted by anyone using them in more extreme hunting conditions. FYI-- I just emailed Homestead Meats in Paonia today, and they got back to me saying they no longer do wild game processing now that they are USDA accredited. Guess I will go with Hotchkiss. -

Elk euro mounts
I pressure wash my whitetails, too, and it works great, but only after boiling. I haven't found the meat and brain to come out well until it has been boiled. Are you bringing stuff for a camp boil or are you having luck cleaning them directly? -

Keeptrying-- Nearly every area I am interested in on the USGS store site, at a 1:24,000 level of detail, is dated 1963 or 1982. You have to jump to 1:100,000 to get into a "modern" 2016 map. Nonetheless I can see your point about wanting more detail and having the flexibility of printing... -

Thanks for the replies, everyone. Belly-deep you made me laugh for sure on that one. I spend $400 for boots without thinking much of it, but yes, I want to save money where I can on backup plans. It is amusing what we all decide is no big deal to spend on, but where we want to MacGyver life... -
