I'll agree, this is not a sport for the faint of heart. LOTS of work! I do definately get away from the roads. TOO many ATV's for me. I even found one dude about 1 mile in, training his bird dog with his 12 gauge. That was frustrating. I have been high and low and places in between. I am...

wiggy,
Why go out of state? Idaho allows you to get a second elk tag at non-res prices. One bull, let alone two will fill anyone's freezer.

Hey, I am in Mt. Home too! What's up fella's?! I have never bird hunted successfully (tried dove once and after a box, there wasn't even a feather on the ground), but would love to get together sometime to learn. There is a 16 year old boy that lost his father a couple of years ago that I...
Great stories and I do like how you take kids hunting! I am only 36, do I qualify if I am a kid at heart? Beautiful dog too! I have a wonderful Black Lab, but he is 3 and has very little patience, I am working on that.

Well, it turns out I might have lost my hunting partner for area 39 in Idaho which starts today and ends on the 9th. Is there anybody that would like to go with me? I am far form a knowlegable Elk hunter, but I will provide the transportation, gas and good conversation. Let me know!

I have passed up a lot of game because of that but I don't regret it.

That's the rule I live by...
Hi all!
I have been reading through these posts and so far I love this site! I have been hunting here in Idaho for three years now, and the only Elk I have seen were a couple dead cows in a ditch. Any tips on finding these ghosts? What type of terrain do they prefer? What kind of foliage...
