Optics recommendations vortex or ziess
I've used Zeiss, Swarovski, and Vortex binos. Yeah the euro glass is really nice but for me, I'm more than happy with my Vortex Diamondback 10x42's. -

I hope it works out. Costs a lot less than the HS Precision stock. -
New Hunting Rifle advice
I've got the same feelings about a 7 mm rem mag and am in the process of selling it and my 30-06 for one good gun. A Sako .308 75 Finnlite- all stainless, no fuss, 30 cal. I hear muzzle brakes being mentioned... those are great on the bench with ear plugs and ear muffs on, but hunting? Not to me. -

I've have a snappy 7 mm rem mag and a 30-06, and killed an antelope that is elk sized with a 300 win mag. Killed many deer with a 7mm rem mag but it's been a meat ruiner. I can't complain about the 30-06, recoil is not that bad at all compared to my 7 mag, but it's not super precise being an... -
Unit 33 arizona..snakes!
I hunted this past January's season in AZ and didn't see a single snake or stinging critters. -
Broadhead for elk, deer and pronghorn
Used Magnus Stingers last year. Resulted in a dead deer. I find they are more accurate than field tips. -
CO Preference Point
Randy's OTC CO videos...consensus is he used hunting pressure to his advantage. Anyway, as TX Resident driving beyond 1200-1400 miles is discouraging, so unfortunately CO is one of closer drives with a lot of elk. I just bought a preference point this year and will be hunting OTC Archery season. -

Rattlesnakes
Never carried a bite kit but when I'm hunting the brushy grassy areas in South Texas I wear snake boots or gaters that are 'bite proof'. I've yet to have a major occurrence while hunting. I hear some places the wild hogs will eat em and they don't rattle no more. I've had them visit my...- danwolf

Like many that had said before I'd try out as many different brands you can get your hands on. Find the one that feels best to you and try buying the same bow in last years version 50% off, so you can get the nice flagship $1100 bow for $550. Good luck with your search. -
What sight - has been figured out
Thanks for all the input guys. Plot twist. I think I'm done with the sliders for now. Took a look at the Revenge 7 pin... and ordered it. Black Gold Revenge 7 pin on a 6 in dovetail, first three pins .19, last four are .10. -
New to archery... will I be ready by fall?
I've never been coached but have had some pointers along the way, these modern bows are more accurate than us. Having consistent a anchor point, peep and sight alinement etc.. help tremendously. Develop good habits from the start and the accuracy will follow. Hope you have a speedy recovery... -

New Hunting Rifle advice
I'd get with some friends and see if you can try out a few different caliber rifles. 300 win mag is great, but if it's killing you yeah a new recoil pad might help some. Also a muzzle brake would help the most. If I were worried about recoil and want to go to a different caliber with less... -

Thanks! Yeah, it's cloud nine walking the woods hunting as a kid. I hear Coues deer hunting is quite the challenge. Thanks! Yeah totally had fun in AZ this January, totally want to do it again! Man 2 months off sounds nice. But I'd totally might miss archery elk if I worked two months. -
Truck bed camping
Used 1/2" plywood for it all to save on weight, works fine for me. I toss gear on on top. Kitchen on the bottom and my bow case on the other side. When I get to my hunting area I'll toss the gear on my shell's roof rack and my bed is a $8 walmart find. This setup has been pretty awesome...- danwolf
