Elk (almost) Muzzle Loader info
Don't know about sambar but on elk go for the gusto.Penetration is what you want.I would max out a heave bullet with the most powder it would shoot accurately.Forget sabots.go for the big hole,and more weight.I have seen a few hollow points fail to penetrate very deep. -

Fishing for coyotes
I blast more than a pickup load every year.I have no problem killing them, but torture is a little different. I don't think I would take to kindly to some one dragging a gut hooked coyote.They are an intelligent Wiley opponent and deserve more respect than that.- nitro x

what would cause hounds to turn on each other???
Sorry to hear about your dog. Like some of the others most of my experience is bird dogs.the only time I have seen dogs kill each other is from different kennels. 2 Alfa dominant males got thrown together and left unattended for about an hour it was a mess one died from infection. I have seen the 17 Remington (and its a lot bigger than the HMR) on several coyote. thats why I like 22-250,or 243win..If it's not fur season.6mm,or.243 is the way to go with 80gr soft points.big holes- nitro x

Rem 260 Barrel optimum barrel length

Need a good bullet for 300 win mag
their is an old myth that round nose bullets especially heavy ones bust through brush better than fast pointy ones.Fact is if you shoot through trees don't expect the bullet to stay on coarse or intact.No matter what you shoot.Get a clear shot,or don't shoot.- nitro x
