Big Tusker Went GOLFING and........

This hog was one of two that I depredated off of a local golf course the other night. They have been doing quite a bit of damage rooting in the fairways and the edges of the bunkers.

It is the largest zone in California. It runs roughly from Santa Barbara in the south to near Mendocino in the north. Pretty much all west of Interstate 5 over to the coast.

What is your favorite upland game?

Quail and a turkey once in a while. I like to go after band-tailed pigeon just before christmas. I have an annual shoot with all my bird hunting buddies. We have to have at least 7 or 8 people to make it fun. We set up sometimes a mile apart and keep the birds flying. Only drawback, limit is 2...

How often do you eat wild game?

If I have any company at all on the weekend, it's every weekend. Otherwise, 4 to 6 times a month. Mostly wild hog sausage, if my freezer gets low, I go out and get another. No season and no limit! The one deer I got last year didn't last long. Quail, turkey, dove and pigeon when they are in...

BIG tusker.......

Haven't been out much lately, lots of overtime at work and calf branding at the ranch....etc. I'll see what comes out of my next roll, which I been too lazy to take in. I saw a huge boar last Friday and a herd of about 15 smaller ones.

It makes me sick to hear about all the worthless b@$^@&*s poaching and leaving animals to waste. But it sure is good to hear when they get busted. I too believe they should have been fined heavier. tusker
