I'm 78, my hometown in NM has an Old Timers Reunion each year. It's really nice to see some of our high school group still around. On the other hand the a-holes back then are the same now. Our group of about 10 people have an email train we keep in touch with now and then. Nice topic.
I looked at a Highlander for my purposes, decided to go 4Runner. I hunt a lot in NM and needed more off road clearance. I do drive it 100 miles round trip to work and so, gets around 19-20 mpg per the calculated on board thingy. Love the room and comfort compared to a Nissan Pathfinder. Good...
I used a 25 remington to hunt with when I was in high school, it was my dad's gun. It had a mauser action, used a magazine and it was hard to find ammo - he had to have it loaded by a reloader. Never new what happened to that rifle after I moved out to do my own life.
Great hunt and fine animal. Congrats. Spent 2 days in the country west of WSMR and the Bosque coyote hunting a couple of weeks ago. Great looking country.
I just returned from a 2 day coyote hunting trip in the Socorro, NM area. We did approximately 14 stands in that time. We saw 1 coyote, and of course I missed him at about 100 yds. with my 22-250. We used two different e-callers (Lucky Duck, FREQ) and mouth calls. We paid attention to: car...
NMSU has a great museum of early life on the farm/ranch, City of Rocks between Deming and Silver City, forgot the name of the hamburger place in Hatch for burgers, take home a sack of Hatch chili.
I too have been able to coach and teach in small west Texas towns. My current gig is in a town of 3500 and they have completed a perfect 10-0 district record. First time in 20+ years. Amazing community support and of course we enjoy "Friday Night Lights" in good ole Texas. Carry on - good...
There's a restaurant on the south end of Socorro that serves pretty good chili. I can't remember the name of the place. I grew up in NM and can hardly wait to renew the "New Mexico Chile taste" with huevos rancheros in Deming. Just returned from a trip there, and it does let you know that...
I shoot a left hand Beretta A400 extreme plus - one does it all gun for me. I bought a predator choke for it and it's good for my hunting. It is very dependable and with all of the adjustments, cast and lop can be adjusted for just about anyone. I have the all black and grey model. Good luck...
I have the Ithaca SKB model 100 in 20 gauge SxS and it is very easy handling. I really like thinking it might be my go to "quail" gun along with my O/U 20 Browning. It seems really made for us senior guys. Good luck.
