Whichever one you decide to get is a matter of preference as previously mentioned however, I have a 900 Rzr and hunt alone. I just installed a rear winch to help load game. Even with that I need a ramp of some sort to help in putting game in bed. I would opt for a tilt bed version of whatever...
I use this as well as my grandkids. It works sitting or standing. They like it more so than sticks. It attaches to a regular camera or spotting scope tripod. Only problem I think you may have with one of these is getting one to fit your 12” range. Caldwell makes a cradle that is adjustable, it...
Gottem. 68 to 71 active army in Germany (brother in Vietnam)
I also have my original P38 but don’t use it much. Wow, this thread is starting to bring back memories.
I’ve eaten a lot of tag soup over the years, some by choice and others times not but it’s not bad. The memories are just as good as when you tag out without all that heavy lifting and grunt work. Enjoy it for what it is, an experience with nature. Good luck in the future. Oh I forgot to mention...
I’ve used SSTs for quite awhile on various game animals. Although I’ve only killed 3 cow elk with the 154sst out of a 7mag, they all went about two jumps. Luck or good bullet? You can decide that.
I agree go for the opener. We just got back from the second week and the pickens were slim plus the goats were spooky. May not be the same everywhere but if I do it again it’ll be first week.
Even though it sucks to have a scope problem at least you figured it out in time to do something about it. Congratulations on solving the problem and good luck with your next choice, whatever it is.
Another thought, you mentioned 12 bullets were from previous lot. Did you keep these separate from the others or are the mixed among the other 38. Yes it would make a difference.
All good suggestions so far. You could also do the box test to see if scope is tracking. From your 200yds zero just dial 16 clicks right shoot a group of 3 shots, then go down 16 clicks shoot another group of 3, then go left 16 clicks and shot 3 more, then dial back up 16 clicks to see if group...
I had a Ruger #1 rebarrelled with a Lilja and chambered in 300 Tomahawk ( improved 300 RUM). I have taken elk with it from 35 to 700 yds and never felt that I needed something else while in the field. While heavier than a stock #1, it is still pleasant to carry and shoot.
I agree. Putting scope on 7mm will validate scope. If it’s ok, shoot groups of three with different ammo from 270 with no adjustment or just enough to stay on paper. Use bags not sled as well. Show us what you get or what you expect to achieve.
Your 314 qt home made cooler is more than adequate. You will have no problems. Did you put a drain in bottom? Enjoy the hunt and no worries about meat getting home safely.
