    I just recently bought a 308 and found the Federal Fusion & Trophy Bonded both 165gr versions, to be the most accurate so far, printing 5-shot groups that a dime can cover at 100yds., next session I’ll see what they do at 200yds.

    A new X-bolt is always a good idea, as for caliber, the choice is yours, I think either would serve you well, however, I have yet to see any ammo on the shelf for the 6.8 Western anywhere, at least in my area that is. I would also consider the 30-06 as a 3rd choice as well.

    I live in NJ, so I use a shotgun for deer hunting only or shooting clay birds. A good bolt action will always catch my eye, and I start chomping at the bit when I can take one of mine on an out of state hunt.

    Cabela's didn't join BPS, it was as close as a "hostile takeover" as a merger gets in the business world. Sad too, Cabela's had great CS and a reputation for quality products.

    Now a days, as someone else stated, whatever is available. But because I reload multiple calibers, I usually choose powders that I can reload multiple calibers, the IMR4350 & 4831, and the 'H' versions of both are one example.
