im not an authority on game meat but ive eaten a load of it so....nm oryx is first by a long shot followed by young white tail then moose or caribou then yearling elk...antelope is good if they havent been eating sage...50% pork shoulder sausage can fix about everything rutty and old...i killed...- bobbadbob

dont know your money situation...you can get a moose in the yukon for 28k...i went in 09 for 10.3k...out of 14 hunters i was the only one that didnt kill!. i did kill black bear and a record book caribou...if i had 28k id go with the same guy...name is widrig outfitters...greatest...- bobbadbob

i understand about the bull tags...i missed a preference point one year and it made a ton of difference...dont have enough for bull and too many for cow...didnt apply for 38 cow cuz my freezer is full of deer and elk...didnt draw elk here in nm this year so ill get the meat whittled down to put...- bobbadbob

im 68 with 20 nr moose points...old, fat and tired...hunted alot around saratoga over the years...killed elk in sierra madres, deer in the snowies, antelope in between....SERIOUSLY thinking about burning points for 38 cow...was gonna hold out and draw and donate it to a wounded warrior but 90/10...- bobbadbob

i agree with every thing you said...but leased by the forest(?) service is a good thing...you still have access...its interesting to me that around the "suburbs" of ruidoso and capitan there is a lot of deer and good bucks to look at while there is very few in the mountains...the deer have... -

Mescalero cow elk hunt
i am an old fart in nm ...ive hunted for many years for deer and elk in nm,co,and wy....im retired now and can afford to hunt places ive always wanted to hunt...mescalero would be at the bottom of my list ...find a landowner tag in the gila...they have gone from 6 to 8 and now probably 10...i...
