Whoa there Ted,
I empathize with your frustration but...our F&G sucks? I'm sorry but I call BS on that. The problem with our F&G is their not sufficiently insulated from the politics of resource allocation and management.
Considering the vastness of the state, the diversity of game and fish...
The legendary (and often misquoted) Sun Tzu once advised never getting into a fight you cannot win.
That said, pushing for this one is a loser for hunters in the long term.
Getting to hunt "McNeil" bears in adjacent areas is not worth the bad press it will generate.
Whatever unit is home to the Black Range, on the east side of the Gila Wilderness. Look for the towns of Winston and Chloride. I don't honestly know the odds of gatting a tag but if you draw it's about the best place in NM to kill a big muley. The odds are really slim but the bucks run huge...
Yes, there is.
Guides must get recommendations and have killed at least 3 Alaskan bib game species just to get an apprentice guide license.
To move up to Registered Guide/Outfitter they have to test and they need recommendations from guide(s) and clients.
The issue with Mr. Jackson is that he...
Its worth it just for Alan Arkin's character IMO.
"What're you 15? You could be getting all the really young stuff. They're jailbait, you're jailbait....it's perfect!"
No, not pointing fingers, just using ranched exotics as a comparison. Both are controversial hunts. IMO the moral high ground goes to the wolf hunter as there is only one way to hunt them...on their terms.
(and to be honest I had forgotten about moosie's ranch hunt resume when I responded)
Why not?
It's a legitimate game animal wherever it's population density, and politics allow.
I'd rather shoot a big wild dog than a semi-tame corsican kissin' cousin of a barnyard goat, no matter how many thousands of acres the feeder was sitting on.
Nikster,
For the purposes of residency in F&G terms, you must domicle yourself in Alaska for 365 days and cut all legal ties with any other state.
Home or land ownership is not a prerequisite.
Once you become a resident you are eligible to apply for the PFD which carries other requirements

T-Bone,
I was JTF team member twice-Laos in 98 and VN in 02 and I worked on pilot fight equipment in the USAF. Your dad's story hit home in a very personal way for me.
If he gets it back have him send it to me and I'll restore it for him (if he wants)
Compare the left side brow and bez tines. In the first pic they almost merge at the main beam and the brow tine has a slight "S" curve near the base.
In the cleaned skull picks the brow and bez are thicker, straighter and farter apart on the main beam.
That said the field pic looks doctored...
