I remember when "flappers", probably the most common motion decoy's, came out. First time I saw one in a magazine I thought they were a joke and there was no way I was paying that much for one decoy. Then one day out hunting in between opening day and the time "new" ducks show up I watched a...
Reports I'm hearing say they tied off near the spillway. Bad Bad Bad idea. I saw a guy do that once behind the Rock Island Arsenal. He was lucky he had a knife handy.
Another tip when fishing below damns is to not pull the trolling motor before the outboard is running.
Live in Iowa. No shelter in place order. Work in IL. We are deemed essential as we supply essential business. Taking precautions but running as usual right now.
I have long been at the crappy end of people's 'lean manufacturing' or "just in time deliveries". 2 days ago I had a customer just crying for immediate delivery of their order they just put in and would normally have a 2week lead time. Rearranged everything to help them out. They called today...

More so for the Hunting Public guys since they have to use a cart or drag. Otherwise, gut it and pull it up the truck or SxS. It's a tuff life being a hunting "celeb"
Many people do hold on to a night recovered deer for the morning camera shoot. Some do it right field dressing, removing the deer from the field and cooling it down. Then they pull it back out to an appropriate location for the camera. What this guy did is unforgivable.
I hope you are right.
I'm reasonably confident in about that time period, maybe less, we'll be hearing "thoughts and prayers"
When you're the one in power you get to take credit when things are good and have to take the blame when things go South.
“Let others lie abed and rise three hours later in the full light of the day. The duck hunter, probing the secrets of a new day, sees the night retreat, and nothing is so fine as daylight coming and night departing while wings overhead whisper the old and unsolved mystery of migration.” -Gordon...
Possibly the saddest thing about this whole situation, and this thread is just further evidence of it, is how far we have fallen as a society. Here again, we have a subject that it should be relatively easy, and for once important, to find trust worthy information about and you can't. Fake...
Check these out. https://www.meyersboat.com/sportspal/
My son picked one up used for 200 bucks. It's aluminum but foam lined and very quite. It's light, under 12 foot, easy for one person to handle and very stable. I prefer using it for solo fishing on small ponds over a kayak and have been...
I've been expecting to see some well timed memes of a dead horse getting beat or a lady yelling at a cat.... but I'm a page or so behind.
You all probably have more in common than not but you've latched on to your argument and won't let go.
Trot lines are legal in Iowa. We often set them when camping on sandbars on in state rivers.
No desire to noodle here. Not sticking my hand in a dark hole in dark water. Also illegal at the moment in Iowa.
I've had snapping turtle. Never caught on purpose more just had the chance so...
Any time I start feeling like I'm the guide and enabler for someone who is fully capable of doing it on their own I slowly start to cut ties. If they don't step then eventually they're gone.
when we go on a full blown hunting trip it's a socialist endeavor. Driver shows up with a full tank...
