    Civil war or no?

AND the car owner's manual from 50 years ago told you how to adjust your brakes and carburetor. Today's owner's manual tells you not to drink the battery acid. No chance today's youth would make it to the civil war, they would be in their snowflake room. The Military now has "stress cards". If...

Worst Hotel you’ve ever stayed at ..

Steam Train Hotel in Antonito, Colorado. Place was decent enough, but their smoking policy is crazy. All rooms are non-smoking for cigarettes, but are weed friendly, so you can smoke weed in all of the rooms but not cigarettes.

    My daughter needs warmer gloves!

Mittens will work best. Using smaller heat packs (they last about 6 hours) instead of the big bulky ones might work and be less bulky. I found the foot warmers are smaller (to fit into shoes) and use them in my gloves. It seems no matter what gloves I get, eventually my hands get cold unless I...

Stainless or Ti rail for my Weatherby .340?

I recently posted about ditching my Talley mounts for a Murphy Ti rail. I was wondering if stainless would be a better choice. I am ditching the Talleys because they are possibly a weak link in my optics system, so I want to replace them with the strongest option possible. Not concerned with...

    Traumatizing fish

I feel sorry for the fish. That's why every fish I catch I release into Lake Crisco (after they rolled in some flour).

Just saw on the interweb that Gaston Glock passed away at age 94. No other details were given.

    Jackets for layering

Sitka Ambient is the most versatile piece of hunting clothing I own. Awesome for keeping you warm as a midlayer, and if it's not really cold you can use it as a top layer.

Suggestions for 1 inch rings to mount on a Murphy Ti rail

I have a Weatherby Mk V in .340 that I currently have Talley rings holding a Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x44 scope. I am going to order a Murphy Precision Ti rail and tried to find appropriate 1 inch rings, but having no luck. I know I can get 30mm rings and install the inserts to reduce it to 1 inch...

    Talley lightweights

Currently have Talley LW on my .340 Wby. I have a Swarovski Z5 3.5- 18x44. I was thinking about changing to a Murphy Precision Ti rail, but am having trouble finding any robust rings for a 1 inch tube. Murphy no longer makes rings and recommends NF but they don't make a 1 inch ring. Any...

    Got Crabby...

We have seasonings here that we use for crabs, shrimp, and crawfish. Very spicy and flavorful. Makes boiled seafood seem bland if it is just boiled in saltwater. Garlic butter goes a long way too.

    Got Crabby...

Those look awesome !! What type of seasoning do you put in the water? We have a casino close to us that has all you can eat dungeness crabs, and they are really good. We try to make it there at least once a month.

    Trijicon Huron Experience?

The only time I was bit by my scope, was when I had Butler Creek lens covers on my scope. The scope cover itself caught me (the little red finger release on the eyepiece cover). I don't hunt with the eyepiece cover on my scope anymore, and don't get bit when I shoot.

    Bolt Face Etching

I think factories are still using "proof" rounds to test the firearm. They exceed normal pressure. Could it be from that?

Cleaning at the end of the season

Thanks 375. I was wondering if any corrosion can occur just by having the copper interact over time with the barrel steel. It is a hunting rifle, and I do shoot it in September and October preparing for my hunt. Problem is components and time are getting harder and harder to come by so having to...

Cleaning at the end of the season

My rifle seems to need 12 to 15 shots before it gets back to it's best accuracy after cleaning to bare metal. Question is, do you guys (and gals) clean to the bare metal to store your rifle, or do you just run a patch or two to remove loose fouling, then store it away til next season. I have a...
