So there are people on this forum that want to end the activities that brought them historically to where they are living today.
Trapping History - Fur Trade Industry (trap-anything.com)
Trapping fur in the US still is International. A very large portion of fur is shipped to many countries...
Not at all. That is why I would place the sign about 200 yards from the set or sets. They would have to do a lot of searching before they could find it. It also gives them time to be mentally prepared prior to trap or catch interaction.
Here is what I did in my land trapping areas. It is something that I have never seen used before. I would post these about 200 yards from a set. This at least made dog owners aware that there is some risk in the area.
Orange paper laminated with clear plastic to make it waterproof. I would make...
I had a one pound bottle that was new. It had a badly shaped O-ring in the neck. I found this out the hard way in a deer blind. I lit the heater and it started like normal. About 10 seconds later I had a 2.5 foot ball of fire in my small Ameristep Tent Chair Blind. The only intended way out is...
I just read the Minnesota Trapping Regulations. As a 30 plus year trapper and a VP of the UPTA that has worked with our DNR and NRC persons for nine years on trapping regulations, there are three small changes that I feel should be changed to bring balance to dog hunters and trappers.

Lateral line scale count 54 or under and anal ray count of 12 or 13 will ensure it is a Golden Shiner.
I did count 12 anal rays on your pictured fish in question. Scale count is tough on this picture. Maybe some one has better eyes than me and can get a good count for us.
The lateral line and fin layout looks like a Golden Shiner. The pectoral fin is slightly different in this drawing but that might be a small error in the book. I would really need to have a sample in my hands to gather some hidden details that I can't get just from a picture. But right now...
The country that we trap must be different. Where I trap, it is possible to get 20" of snow over night. Traps on the ground just get buried along with the attractant. Keeping the set high off the ground makes it reliable and easy to check at a distance. This saves walking time to and from the...
I don't see how this is being said close to 100%. I've set mine for bobcats and racoons 6 - 7' up off the ground on a 6 to 8" diameter log leaning at 45-60 degrees. I build a .5" steel hardware mesh cloth folded up to make a cubby 24" long and 8" side to side and top to bottom with a closed in...
If anybody on this forum has had an issue with there dog in a trap, please reference the State and hunting you were doing. This is a North American forum discussing many different sets of regulation for many different types of habitats.
Also the language on this thread is referencing that all...
See page 49 in Minnesota Hunting and Trapping Regulations. There are regulations for conibear size and usage (specific to dryland and wetland). There is also a directions on how to remove a conibear off of a dog if he found an illegally set trap earlier in the regulations. If you find an illegal...
Already discussed and approved at the state level in Michigan.
Well I can say that the state of Michigan hunters and trappers have stuck together. Please take a look at the Michigan Fur Harvester Digest Regulations (pages 22-33).

These sportsman should think a little deeper if they have an issue with trapping. Lets take a quick look at what predator game animals get trapped and how these animals have an impact on hunting and fishing.
Racoon - one of the main predators for eating waterfowl eggs during nesting either on...
