San Francisco Peaks 1000 year flood

The monsoonal thunderstorms that have been hitting southern Utah and northern AZ have been no joke. When it comes, it come down all at once!!!!

    Good Bull

Bigsky2, I have my inbox cleared up. I’ve only seen 5 bucks on this unit that would be older than 3 years old. I definitely would not want to commit to this area for deer based on what I’ve seen. Here’s a buck from this morning in a unit I do have a tag for. He’s a loooooong ways off...

More elk Just got back from a night and morning with my 7 yr old. 38 miles on the atv. Here’s some pictures. Saw 35 bulls. Three were definitely shooters but it was too dark to take pictures. These bulls would be last day or two bulls I would guess. Any other 38 year olds out...

    Bergara and ELDX

I picked up a B14 hunter in 7 rem mag the other day. Put Warne bases and rigs on it. Vortex 4-16x40 hslr scope. I have some once fired Nosler brass, Winchester magnum primers, IMR 4831 powder, and some 162 grain eldx bullets laying around so I decided to start with that. 58.5 and 59...

    28 Nosler data w/ 160 Accubond

Just a question. The biggest .284 caliber rifle I have is a 7 rem mag. If you are pushing a 160 grain pill over 3300 FPS then wouldn’t going to a larger bullet with a better BC be a better option? Not a critical question, just wondering why you’d use that size of bullet with that speed...

    Vortex Vulture

Sell what 10x42s you have and put all the money towards some Swarovski 10x42s and a good Tripod. Big heavy glass does no good if it’s junk. Been there done that.

Browning Hell's Canyon Vs. Christensen Arms Mesa?

More like ironic and surprising. Not funny. My good friend from Sheridan Wyoming just got the ridge model and he’s about ready to make a boat anchor out of his SPS Remlin if you want it. :p

    Bergara B14 6.5 Creedmoor

Those Ridges are cool. Scheels had an Approach in 6.5CM the other day. I made the guy unlock the glass case. Thats a dream gun for me.

Browning Hell's Canyon Vs. Christensen Arms Mesa?

I’d look long and hard at bergara. That b14 will outshoot the browning or the CA. Heck you could get the rifle and scope for the price of either of those two. If you are gonna spend over $1200 then go cycle the bolt on the bergara with the premier action. Nobody I knew had one two...

    Good Bull

Some more from today 89 bulls in one afternoon and one morning of glassing. These Utah elk have it good. I bet 15 of them were in that 310-330 class

Utah. I got lucky and pulled an early any weapon tag on the Fishlake at the Hunt Expo in SLC. I thought you had to be a Mossback client or a member of the Peay family to draw but apparently not. :)

    Good Bull

Here is a bull that made me a little watery in the mouth. I’m sure with all the guides and trailcam up he’ll be a wanted man but if I get within range on sept 15 he’s in twubbbbbble!!! I’m happy with anything over 330 with this tag but he’s gotta be north of that?!? Tried to rotate the...

    Bergara B14 6.5 Creedmoor

I killed a Bighorn sheep at 444 yards and three mule deer bucks at 144, 169, and 353 last year. Really impressed with this gun. I know of 7 good friends that have gotten various versions and calibers from bergara. Not sure there are better shooting rifles off the gun counter than...

    .308 for the grizzly

When I’m not the hunter I carry a Remington 870 home defense model with the short barrel and room for 6. Three slugs and three with 00 buck. I have my Glock 20 in 10mm with solids in a harness under my Bino harness. Plus I have spray on my hip. When I’m the hunter my 6.5 creedmoor is on...

Haha MT Muley. I broke out my dads old Remington from under his bed at the cabin. Want to bring it back to life. All he shot was factory. Just looking for a staring point. I drew a good elk tag this fall and been thinking about using it for nostalgia’s sake. I might give up...

Cool. Thanks guys. How come the 270 isn’t talked about as much as others for a long range killer? I would assume that out to 500 yards with a good 130-150 grain bullet that deer and elk would not like that pill very much. Has anyone tried a 145 eldx?
