I did some statistics on it the other day. It really only seemed to "help" draw odds with units that were in the 10-30% draw range with a decent amount of tags ~100-150, with a smaller historic applicant pool, <500 applicants. Maybe @wllm can help me out with a sweet spreadsheet to illustrate...
Not to completely derail this thread, but I would argue people of that lifestyle are admirable. I can agree with your sentiment that they are reckless and irresponsible to a degree. But they also have a lifestyle that requires more courage, drive for adventure and dedication than most folks...
To Buzz's point, I live next to the biggest wilderness area in the State. It's the assumption that wilderness areas in Wyoming are the Mecca for elk hunting that all residents flock to every fall and thumb their noses at all the non residents on the borderlines from.
Every elk I have killed in...
The whole "compromise" deal just grinds my gears. What compromise are we supposed to be making? These are the residents of Wyoming's wildlife, NOT Wyoming Guide Association's wildlife. Why does a private financially driven group somehow have the power to dictate what happens with Wyoming's...

"Outfitter set asides are not a subsidy, nor welfare. Residents don't hunt the Thorofare anyway, we should have garaunteed tags for that area every year."
I...
They took it down after the session concluded yesterday but I'm assuming they will have it back up prior to the next meeting on June 8th/9th.
