Finally getting started on my first Port Cedar arrows for the upcoming season. Stained the uppers with a sunburst dye that has turned osage orange under the Tung oil sealer, bottom half stained walnut. Sealing with Tung oil and then crest them. Have a test set of field points to determine the...
Took the family camping this weekend and the 8 year old grandson came with us. He had been expressing an interest for bows (after all grandpa shoots one) so I got him Centerpoint Elkhorn. If he wasnt in the water he was shooting the bow. It took a couple of days of working with him to break some...
Thought I would just put this out there. Last year I went bow hunting with a guy from work who has killed a lot of elk over the years (all with a rifle) and has recently gotten into archery. However he does not practice with his bow and has a pretty arrogant attitude about it...(I have killed...
Trad vanes are definitely legit but I still love the looks and feel of feathers so I compromised. On my carbon arrows I use the trad vanes while on my wood arrows I stick with the feathers.
Here in Great Falls we are over run with pocket gophers and I so want to start practicing on them but not sure how the laws of civilization oversee the massacre of rodents lol
The bull is actually my son's kill who has Cerebral Palsey but it makes an excellent rack for my bow. He loves to sit and watch me shoot in the back yard so he loves this.
My daughter called me to tell me about this show. She said she immediately thought of me and figured I would love it. I made it through 2 episodes and couldn't stand it anymore. If the show is real and those idiots are truly in existence then I pray for the future of our species.
When Buffalo Trace goes to test the barrels of mash for making Pappy's there are those that are rejected due to Ph balance being off, color variation and a number of minor differences. These are then used to make Wellers. Unless you have the greatest discerning bourbon palate in the world I...
The grizzly and the dark moose were both at East Glacier last weekend but the scariest encounter was with the light moose and the wolf descendant. I feared for my life getting this pic but luckily neither woke up to find me in their den...
Im super jealous of you getting out there like that. The only hiking I have got to do like that since moving to Montana 2 years ago is during hunting season down in the Little Belts. Looks like you had an awesome time!!!
My first big game gun was a Marlin 30/30 and used it for years. Wish I still had that gun because now that I live in Montana I would surely use it for anything up here. Never had a single problem putting the biggest buck down with it.
I have been wearing Merrils leather hiking boots for the past few years (same pair) until the snow flies and they work perfect. Light, waterproof and extremely comfortable.
This will be my first year getting to hunt Merriam turkeys here in Montana as long as my MRI today doesn't show any serious damage to my knee. I look forward to busting a Montana Ridge Rooster!!!
From someone who has moderated numerous social media sites it can be difficult and tiresome dealing with those who just simply want to antagonize the masses. Stick to your guns Randy and maintain the civility of the site with the focus on conservation and hunting. Politics belong on Fox and CNN...
