I've found that if I shoot my rimfire squirrel rifle (same action-type and scope as my Kimber 84) while the Kimber barrel cools down I'm a MUCH better shot with the Kimber.
Three or four good shots with the .22 concentrating on the fundamentals seems to help.
I spent nearly 6 years in an Army Infantry unit during the Iraq "bad" years and we used both 870's, 500's, and Benelli M4's.
We broke ALL OF THEM.
Dunno that I ever saw a 590 personally but I know that they were around.
Surprised that no one has mentioned the Howa Carbon Stalkers yet.
+1 for a Kimber Hunter. Love mine in 3006 except I'd like to take 3/4" off of the LOP.
It's somewhere around ~6.75# with a Leupold VX3-I scope in 3.5-10x and a 550 cord sling. Although I should have gotten it in 280AI instead. #Oops
Unless you are looking at Remington rifles from MANY years ago I'd avoid them like the plague
There is a reason why they went belly up and that reason was that their quality went to shit (among others).

I'd look strongly at 6.5cm or 7mm-08 with reduced recoils loads to start...
I have a firearm on my hip every single day. Why would it be any different when I'm hunting?
Kimber 357 DA/SA this season.
Carried a Taurus Tracker in 44 mag in the past.
Kahr 9mm subcompact on the rare event I go to town.
Doing 5 cull plains game animals on video on a 5 day hunt (inclusive) for around $2500 for me and $100-ish/day for the wife. So not bringing home any taxidermy but a ton of videos and pics.
The wife is a ninja using her corporate card for airlines miles and we have plenty of time to book early...
Currently in discussions with the wife about an August 22 trip to South Africa. Plains game - 5 species. I hunt, she takes photos and plays tourist.
Would the OP or anyone else care to comment on some realistic prices paid for the trip? tip percentage? Who all gets tips? Rough taxidermy and...

Havent played with their bags yet but the wife and i both adore our Montbell down jackets that we own for backpacking long trails. Ours held up well on the Arizona Trail- which due to the number of spikes, spines, briars, and stickers is where UL gear goes to die!
I carry bird shot under the hammer - the last round to fire - and bear defense ammo in the other 5 spots.
If its a grouse i have time to align the cylinder back 1 spot. If i need it in a hurry ive got 5 shots of bear ammo handy.
Some 44 SPL rides in my pocket.
My revolver stays on my person...

Nemo bags are notorious for being "optimistic" with their temp ratings.
I picked up a Stone Glacier Chillikote 0° bag a while back and love it. Pricey but the quality is high enough that i should get a couple of decades of use out of it.
