For a spring season in Maine it has to be on tribal land. I think there's only about 4 guides that are allowed to do that. We went with Penobscot guide service and I was very pleased. It wasn't the cheapest but I felt that I got what I paid for. My 13 yo son and I went to the lease in...
Rebarelled a short action to .284 and have no trouble extracting loads even at 2.9 COAL. It would take receiver work to eject anything longer but that can be done as well.
That's awesome man. That would have me so damn pumped up!
The reason given for killing elk with general deer tags is supposedly chronic wasting because those animals are from other states. Also they are out of the elk tolerance zone whatever the hell that means. My gripe has always been that...
Warm here in the east too. Leaves are just starting to really change. Some of our spots will be tough to hunt with leaves on the trees. Nice to have pastures for the cows though.
One son has a 77/22 and the other has a t-bolt. Both are tack drivers and worth the money. I prefer the 77/22 because it feels like a full sized rifle. The t-bolt sure is a sweet fun though.
As an aside, does Ruger currently make the 77/22? I don't think they do.
I figure it's the next great break through in long range shooting/hunting. Sit at home on the east coast while you control your robot sniper dog across the the sage brush in pursuit of your pronghorn. 1000 yds......mere child's play when you pull the trigger from 2000 miles away.
Congratulations! This is why I love hunt talk. Like mtmuley said I too am living vicariously right now AND I learned something new in the process.
Enjoy the best dang tablefare in America.
There was a similar program about 10 years ago that was next to impossible to to be enrolled. The issue in my opinion was the system used to rank need also increased incentive pay which meant more money went to higher priority land. That doesn't sound like an issue until smaller high incentive...
Heard of a guy balsy enough to put a trash bag over a nest to get rid of it. Not sure if that's smart or even an option for you. Also, it's late enough in the year, that a few well placed 12 gauge rounds may take care of it. Again, not sure it's smart or an option.
It's a little farther north but I have used Lusk Game Processing. The son also has a taxidermy shop. I was pleased with both the processing and the taxidermy work.
I don't know that it's fake. Sometimes accents present themselves in different ways. If you have a heavy accent and are around someone with the same one it becomes even more pronounced or vice versa. For example I was recently in Maine and met a guy that was originally from Alabama but had...
