I've hunted 51 quite a bit. PM me with any specific questions.

Corey Jacobsen University of elk hunting online

I did it a couple years ago. I'd also highly reccommend. When you've absorbed all the info Corey provides i'd check out Paul "elk nut" Medel.

Looking for Elk Outfitter to take my dad this winter/fall.

Check out NM51 for a high density, easily accessed, relatively flat and low-ish elevation hunt. (assuming northern NM isn't too far for you to travel.) I can recommend a guide as well, PM me for that. Not huge trophy potential, but if you're just looking for a good easy time with your dad...

    Time for a New Bow

Can't go wrong with a Mathew's, no question about that... But if i were you i'd shoot an xpedition before i laid my money down. With that type of budget you're going to be buying based on minor personal preferences more than pure quality/performance. As NY said, all the flagship bows are...

New Mexico Pronghorn - NR Unguided

Changes to the regs shouldn't change anyone's strategy. You're still applying for a goofball piece of land that you can't stray off of, and it's not like one unit is better than another. Used to be you couldn't leave the ranch, even for public. Now you can't leave the public (or even access...

    Left handed sight..?

Make sure you pick the right option from their website. I saw several sights that looked the same but had different pricing and different options available.

    Sighting in new bow..10-20 yards

Agreed. The only reason i keep a short pin is for grouse. If not for that i'd start at 30. And i'm sure i could eyeball it if i had to. We're talking fractions of an inch.

    Right handed, left eyed

After years shooting righty, i made the switch only a couple months ago. Man what a difference! Keeping both eyes open feels really natural. Also i'm now holding the bow in my dominant, fine motor skill hand. Seems easier to hold on target once you get your weak arm built up to the weight...

    Left handed sight..?

I bought a lefty verdict accent only a month ago from S&S. Told me it would be three weeks, only took 1.5. I recommend both the sight and S&S. Good folks. I got the custom 3 pin widowmaker option that got me micro-adjust pins, with a single 0.010 pin on the bottom. Got my choice of pin...

    Poll! Looking for input.

Hours nine through fifteen of that drive you're going to be saying to yourself ..this was a mistake, this was a mistake. Besides, you could buy some dam good steak for the price of 12 hours worth of gas.

NM Elk - Story & Question; Marathon minus 1 Bull

A buddy of mine has used Danny Gruben over at American Wildlife taxi in abq for probably six mounts. Trusted him with a 388 bull. He seems to do some really great work. Personally i've got no experience, just speaking for my friend. Congrats on the need for a taxi!

Colorado Pref. Points- Point of diminishing returns?

I'm not too familiar with CO, but i think they should let you spend your points, one by one, not "cash them in." Seems like it would relieve a lot of the built-up tension, even if it threw off the draw odds for a couple years. Having said that, and being from NM where i have to draw my tag...

    Hinge release anchor

My old release is a Scott samurai that was set pretty short. I could easily get my second knuckle over the trigger. I'm not opposed the changing my draw length, it's just not what i'm hearing others say they've had to do. It's the lack of the nose anchor that's bothering me. I haven't heard...

    Hinge release anchor

Hi all- Yesterday my new hinge release arrived. I've been playing with it and i'm liking it so far. I knew going into it that my anchor would change and i've been told that my draw length shouldn't change, but i found that my anchor actually stayed almost the same (first knuckle behind the...

Besides Randy give me some good youtube channels to follow on western hunting & conservation

I don't really know those guys but I saw that episode. Pretty awesome. If you're east coast check out the bowhunt or die crew. They've got an amazing charity for disabled kids and veterans. Talk about tear jerkers; watch those guys take the kids out and try not to be moved. God bless em.

Besides Randy give me some good youtube channels to follow on western hunting & conservation

For all you solohunter fans, does anyone else think Remi is awesome and that other dude is lame? He's always complaining about how hard it is to hunt with a camera. (If you don't want to do it, don't do it). Just my opinion.

    Contact Lenses

As others have said, keep them on your body or in your bag at night. Saline should freeze at lower temps than plain water, but i see you're from Minnesota, you're probably talking about a magnitude of cold i'm not familiar with.

    Tires....again.

Have you ever tried them, or are you making assumptions based on "common wisdom" from the previous century? Do your research. Retreads have come a long way. These aren't the horror story tires you remember from the 80's. And if you've got the means to spend $1200 every 40k miles, then sure...

    Tires....again.

https://www.tirerecappers.com/ Are they better: no. Are they just as good: yes. Do they cost half as much: yes. Been running these for years. Check them out. They'll last at least as long and take the pain out of buying new. I've found that nothing lasts to warranty when you're taking...
