They aren't giving you anything you won't find on your own research. Edit: neither site is predicting odds they are using the odds from the year before and saying what it took last year to draw.
Only nice thing when you are starting out about the 2 services is that all the information is in...
I think they fixed a big problem this year tho. And that involves the party apps. Up until this year party apps where split up once the "second" draw happened. So if you applied as a party and didn't draw in the first go round, once the people who didn't draw their LE tags returned their general...
What's funniest to me about the "b*tching" (if you want to call it that) is the guys complaining about the system who live in neighboring states that have as good if not better OTC tags for residents. Yet they complain about another states process not letting them get another elk tag.
"Cannon" was maybe a slight exaggeration. However, very noticeable difference between the 29 and the 33. Simple physics and geometry. You have a shorter travel getting to a faster speed (edit: and getting to the same draw weight in a quicker time thus making it a more "harsh" draw cycle) Going...
Also if you get the deer/elk combo with an outfitter you need to hunt both animals with the same outfitter. And if you do a party app all people applying need to hunt with the same outfitter.
I bet they stop doing this real soon as it's going to take 3 full points to draw. They are using guys with 3pts to prop up their other clients. Kind of like how tag services do it in WY.
I shot the phase 4 in both 29" and 33". Ended up buying the 33", because the 29" felt like a cannon going off in my hand and was noticeably louder. I am a Midwestern tree stand hunter 90% of the time and have never thought damn wish my bow was shorter.
I would say that by sending that email they handled their situation pretty darn well, and other states should take notice. Other states print tags to people who didn't get them, to many tags issued etc. Heck idaho even did it with sheep tags. Would rather them send this email than send out the...
Hunting partner and I have 6. Won't be using them for awhile. Other hunts are just falling into place. Will probably use them around 8-9pt range thr way its looking. My brother and nephew have 5 each so will be averaging with them after we draw hopefully.
Have had good luck here in Central WI a couple of those trees. Have about 8k planted. Sent you a pm. Survival rate is about 85%. Oldest trees have been in the ground 9yrs they are 6-10' tall now youngest are 3yo bare roots that we planted last years. Some by hand others with a planter.
One...
Not to derail this thread any farther. But WI DNR did itself and the hunting/trapping community any favors with thay lastly planned hunt either.
Hunters/trappers killed like 80% over the quota because as @IdahoNick pointed out, itwas pretty easy with dogs to find and kill the wolves. Also...
And I agree with you that is why I said the mountain west is different than WI. Was simply pointing out that in some cases hunting/trapping can be effective. Obviously not all.
And I didn't loon but I would assume thay wolves per square mile is more dense in WI than the mountain west too.
