    Puffy pants

We have Kuiu. They’re great. Just be sure you get something with full side zips, cuz you’re not hiking anywhere in puffy pants without sweating your butt off.

    Maven Vs Athlon binos

I have a couple pair of Mavens. I’m very happy with them and feel like they’re very good for the price. As mentioned above, they have a demo program that will let you try them for a couple weeks. It’s pretty helpful.

    Leftover CO

It’s nice to see that the code I couldn’t draw in the primary, then didn’t draw in the secondary, now has 33 tags available….😂 it’s a pyramid scheme for application fees.

    Hmmm. That’s interesting.

    Lots of grasshoppers

Yah I wonder about the fishing aspect. I assume they’ve crossed the Yampa, based on where they’re being seen. They’re big juicy suckers, so I’m sure fish love ‘em.

    Lots of grasshoppers

Wow! We’re inundated with “Mormon Crickets” here around Meeker. Big, red, gross things. It’s nuts! The roads are red with squished bodies. It’s quite disturbing to drive through a swarm on the road. If they flew it would be another level of heebie-jeebies! Ha! I’m assuming the surge in...

    Stuck Outside Harbor

yah the deep-drop is either a zero or hero day. It’s such an interesting fishery too. The daytime fish south of you have been biting a lot more the last week, so hopefully you guys get ‘em.

    Stuck Outside Harbor

Man, the ramp is going to get ugly when they let ‘em all go!

    Leupold spotting scope

Yah that’s what I came to say. Look into some higher power binos. The field of view difference sounds like it would be helpful to your situation.

CA long range trip report if you’re interested…

Hey man, I’m just wondering if you or “Old270hunter” are SD locals who moved out of state like we are? Just curious because you both clearly have experience in this fairly niche world. I just booked for next year on the Excel. Pumped! We’re having a sushi / sashimi / elk dinner part with...

CA long range trip report if you’re interested…

Just use a processor. Those are insane logistics to ship fish. There aren’t any fish cleaning areas near the landing. They definitely wouldn’t let you cut fish on the docks or parking area. You’ll see when you get there that there just isn’t space. All the boats have rental gear, but not all...

CA long range trip report if you’re interested…

No problem. Your destination is a product of trip length and where the fish are. On this trip we fished as far as 400 miles from the dock to as close as 30 miles. There are typically several days of travel involved to get to/from destinations. You stay on the boat in a stateroom. It’s real...

CA long range trip report if you’re interested…

We brought back a bunch. It will last until next year’s trip. In reality you have to moderate your take, as it can feel gluttonous.

CA long range trip report if you’re interested…

I’ve spoken to a couple people on here over the years who are part of the CA fishing scene. I thought maybe some would be interested in a trip report. Ok, you got me, it’s a shameless plug to show off fish pictures….ha! Just got home from an 8-day on the Intrepid. As spring 8-day trips go...

Yah I’m in the same boat. We’re on an 8 day next week. Pumped! If we don’t draw anything we’re going to try to get on a 3 day in the fall
