CO Mountain Lion Ballot Initiative: Continuous Updates

Yah I hope you’re right. From a non hunting perspective I can see the efficacy in targeting the use of dogs. It definitely pulls on the old heart strings for a bunch of people. That would be a ban in all but name, and probably easier to achieve. I dislike both the “lion hunting is evil...

CO Mountain Lion Ballot Initiative: Continuous Updates

Unfortunately grace humility and kindness are severely lacking in today’s political climate. I’m glad it didn’t pass, but it will be back next year.

San Diego Long Range Fishing Help

Those boats are great too. All the boats in the “long range” fleet are great. Boats start running 10 days in the fall. Great fishing for yellowtail, smalll tuna (20 to 60lbs), and wahoo. They will often target the “lower banks” to try for larger (200+) tuna, but it depends. There aren’t...

San Diego Long Range Fishing Help

Both of those boats are top tier. You won’t have any regrets riding either. I grew up fishing and working in the SD long range world. Hit me up if you have any specific questions. Keep us n mind most trips fill a year plus in advance and many schedules come out in June and July for the next...

Elk Caliber and Bullet Choice - 2024

That’s been good medicine on elk for me: 6.5 PRC with 156 Berger. They rarely ever bounce off.

    Any winterkill area hunt recaps?

We live in NW CO in one of the “winter kill” units. It was as definitely a very tough winter. On our shed hikes in May we saw probably 20x as many dead animals as usual. The town deer seemed to do fine. LOTS of dead animals on the roads in feb and march. We couldn’t get a deer tag this year so...

    NW CO, 2nd Rifle.

Oh man! My son and I always laugh about “Cheech and Chong” - 2 dudes in a white F-150 who we saw almost every day during second season in Meeker a couple years back. We would be parking to hike, or just getting back to the truck…and here they’d come! Every time. Those dudes got around! They...

    Barnes 127g LRX

I switched to these bullets in MY 6.5 PRC a couple years ago. Very happy with the performance. I get ammo from Choice Ammunition. Chrono’s just at 3000 fps, and I typically shoot just over a minute out of the X-Bolt. I use another load with the 156 Berger for elk, but the Narnes hasn’t let...

‘24 app specific questions Mule Deer rut hunt units

I am burning some points next year. I have some specific questions about areas in the low-one-hundreds that I can draw. I’m just trying to sus-out which units make the most sense based on access and ‘23 winter kill. I’m assuming a PM conversation makes the most sense. Thanks in advance.

I’m not saying this was the ONLY reason…

But I’m sure it helped my approach!😂😂 And given my success rate on bulls, I’ll take every chance I get. I did have feelings about it though.

    Should rifle elk be limited?

I just had an interesting conversation with an outfitter friend about this. I mentioned that I was hoping that NR OTC would be limited. She was very upset at the idea, and just could not understand why the state would want to “punish” NR’s, and that residents are “spoiled and get everything”...
