Best of luck! I spent a few weeks in the Netherlands, a couple of years ago visiting my brother who was living there. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit, great place!
I’ve always called it the “3 point check”, I do it almost every time I walk out the door and my wife thinks it’s funny I do it too.
Unfortunately it hasn’t kept me from being in the same predicament as @kansasdad…
That deer will be fine imo, but even if she’s not it was the type hit that will allow her to go so far that you’ll never find her. The real question I think you should be asking is “What’s wrong with my set up that would cause me to get such poor penetration?”
I’m not trying to start any kind of...
Blackened Alligator, harvested fresh this morning! Served over cheddar grits with a cream gravy made from the skillet drippings and green beans. Laissez le bons temps rouler!!
I’ll post up a thread within a couple days with pictures from the alligator hunt.
I can’t imagine always being bound by the camera. It can really be a hindrance at times I’m sure. You deserve some hunting “me time” every now and then, you’ve given enough, I think most all of your viewers will understand! Congrats, he’s beautiful!
I finished butchering my bull and weighed it all up in the butcher shop tonight. I ended up with 319.5 lbs of finished fully processed, all deboned meat.
I took time to also weigh my scrap/trimming bucket at the end too so I could know the total packed out weight. It was 90 lbs. So in total we...
That brings back memories, I have not taken the time to squirrel hunt in a long time. Good grief, me and the old .410 were the terror of the woods on squirrels when I was a kid! I need to do some more of it.
So happy for her, congratulations! I love seeing kids with bows in their hands, especially when they say “Bowhunting is a little bit more fun than gun hunting, it’s more fun!” I couldn’t agree more :)
Furthest shot- 95 yards, free-range mouflon sheep (He only went 20, but I would highly recommend against this type recklessness.)
Closest shot- 4 yards, whitetail doe
Average shot- 16 yards, on countless pigs, 30+ whitetails, 4 mule deer, 2 elk.
While I have taken a small handful of long shots...
Earlier today I was reading through some of the thread on the wound loss podcast from back in February, then ironically as I was doing some butcher work on this bull this afternoon I found a good sized fragment of the copper jacket from some hunters bullet in years gone by. I am certainly glad...
I hate how it ended but looks like it was a ton of fun while it lasted! I think the best thing about open country like that is how many critters you get to see even though it provides its own set of frustrations. Best of luck with the knee healing.
That question is so open ended a book could be written in answer, but to keep it simple I’ll suggest adding lemon pepper and Greek seasoning to your regular repertoire.
Great job! Congrats! I’ve been thoroughly enjoying all the elk backstrap too. In fact I ate elk twice today, and yesterday, and some the day before that… I think I have a problem. Mainly that I’ll run out too soon!
