I’m a proponent of fighting unjust point systems that lock out young people, new hunters, late entrants etc. There are a number of methods I believe would help. Eliminating point only applications is one of the methods I’m in favor of. If you apply, you’re at risk of drawing a tag, and thus...
I’ve been in a $30 one-man Magellan for 9 years. Last it year it started to leak, so I bought a new one for $30-$40. I have a Eureka 2-man. It’s a much better tent. It’s also heavier and takes me longer to set up.
By no means is the dirt cheap tent on par with a quality tent. That said, I can’t...
I didn’t make the tag a second choice. I made it a first choice. I had zero points, and drew it as a first choice. Other people drew it as a second choice. By returning it, I get a refund, and someone else gets to hunt. I do not gain a point, and CO does not allow you to keep points(I had zero...
I drew an elk tag with zero points that could have been drawn as a second choice, and even had some leftovers go to the secondary draw. Then I drew a cow moose tag in a different state that has conflicting dates. Any reason that I need to be punished by not getting a refund? I won’t get a point...
I agree. I didn’t say that three shots proves a lot. I did say that multiple three shot groups can prove something. That of course assumes that you aren’t throwing out the bad groups.
More data is always better. Doesn’t have to be via ten shot groups. Could be multiple 3-5 shot groups. Methods of evaluating accuracy other than group size are more efficient. Distance from center or POI yields useful data with every shot while group size actually only yields useful data with...
I would’t worry about it, and probably shoot the load with max velocity.
A) you don’t have enough data to suggest that one is better than the other. A retest might completely flip which load shoots the better group.
B) you don’t have a a group small enough to indicate that charge weight...
I highly suspect that any improvement from pulling and reseating would be minimal and not likely to matter in a hunting gun. I also suspect that lots of factory ammo would result in the same phenomenon, and that it doesn’t matter very much.
Some manufacturers do have a film on the bullets that...
Most benchrest shooters load DURING a match between relays. But that’s for a different reason.
I would say that extended periods of storage can lead to the copper bullet generating some level of bond to the case neck, but for general hunting accuracy I doubt that it matters. That said, I can’t...
I have to assume that the people who did not draw at two and three points failed to draw for some other reason considering that people with fewer points still drew. Is it not pure preference? I don’t apply in Montana.
The drill is all I’ve ever done and I’ve never had a problem. I do it in a dark room and get the necks to just barely give me color.
If I ever knock the torch over, my wife we be very upset. Or perhaps pleased with the excuse to buy new carpet. Probably upset, but perhaps I could dig myself out...
The only time I’ve had really wild SD/ES was from a 6mm Remington with sketchy brass. I prepped the brass well, but weights were all over the map. I’m not sure if that was the cause as I just took a different rifle on that hunt, and haven’t had time to fool with the 6mm Rem since.
